Pomegranate Moon
A solo exhibition by Kelly Lamb

Pomegranate Moon, is a site-specific gallery installation centered around a central chandelier composed of neon, mirror, cast glass, and cast bronze fruit and shells. In one corner of the gallery, a sculptural female figure in repose functions as a projection surface for a looped video depicting a woman— framed as a fallen muse—lounging and eating fruit in a state of quiet, unselfconscious intimacy. Three additional sculptural works are mounted on the gallery walls: a bronze shell pierced by a neon rod; a pomegranate impaled by an arrow; and a conch shell from which a female figure emerges.

Minnick’s work is characterized by bold, instinctive layers of color and line, with his painting style moving fluidly between abstraction and figuration. Stylized skeletons with a “plus” sign in the torso frequent his work, as a global symbol of positive energy and human will. Often described as a “free-flow” of ideas, his work results in complex compositions that convey a formidable aesthetic presence and a deeply visceral experience for the viewer.
