Haphazard is a contemplative space for contemporary art and design. It seeks to pioneer a novel and desultory vision to decant fragments of creative inspirations. Taking in the chaotic and accidental, the baffling and outrageous, along with the inconsistent and unprocessed beauties littered in our raw realities, our mission is to celebrate juxtapositions and coax the interconnectedness of various

artistic and cultural communities without preconception. The developmental strategies and curatorial activities are led by Mok Wai Wan, Oleg Korchinski and Harrison Timothy Higgins.

Edition 3/3

“In the small gallery, June 14-18, 2001, a large, enameled silkscreen painting on steel from 2002, produced in the same foundry that makes signs for the Metro in Paris and for railways throughout France. It reproduces an image clipped from the New York Times of June 18, 2001, of a massive anti-government demonstration in Algiers four days earlier in the context of long-standing cultural marginalization of the Kabyle people, a Berber ethnic group indigenous to Kabylia in the north of Algeria. This protest was the culmination of months of unrest and rioting ignited by the arrest and murder by the police of a Kabyle high-school student. Following his death, demonstrations were met with violent opposition by paramilitary police, during which hundreds were killed and thousands severely injured. These events came to be known as the Black Spring. In the short term these conflicts resulted in mild political reforms, in the long term they led to significant political and cultural autonomy in the Kabyle region.”

as-is Gallery is pleased to present an exhibition of works by Los Angeles–based artist Lincoln Tobier, his first with the gallery.

On view are new ceramic sculptures (2022–2025), including the series Sets of Seven Cylinders, alongside an earlier enamel-on-steel work from 2002. Engaging serial form, industrial processes, and historical reference, Tobier’s work reflects on systems of power, representation, and the public sphere.

Please join us for a reception for the artist on Saturday, April 25, 2–5 pm.

On view March 25 – August 23, 2026.

In her latest body of work, Annabel Osberg navigates the intersection of organic form and psychological depth. “Convergence” (pictured here) exemplifies this tension, a weblike composition that oscillates between the microscopic view of a flower and the expansive brilliance of a jewel.

Osberg’s mastery of line creates a central yellow radiance that, upon closer inspection, takes on a startlingly sentient quality. As the artist notes, these ocular, vegetal shapes seem to peer back, transforming the act of viewing into a reciprocal gaze.
