TOMORROW, October 22nd, from 5-8pm, celebrate the opening of two shows: "In These Mountains: Traditional Appalachian Art Today" and "Material Obsession". KMAC Members receive free admission. Non-members can purchase tickets for $8 at the door OR at redpintix.com/events/vernissage-material-obsession-10-22-2026. One ticket grants access to both events.

In partnership with South Arts, "In These Mountains" presents a dynamic survey of artists who participated in the Emerging Traditional Artists Program, a program that provides financial support and professional development for artists in Appalachian Regional Commission counties. The exhibition highlights artists whose practices sit along a spectrum of traditional methods and contemporary exploration.

Material Obsession is a special shop show, where artists explore scale and perspective using discarded & repurposed materials. Works will be available for sale, with proceeds supporting exhibition programming and educational initiatives at KMAC.

Material Obsession is Thursday, October 22nd! Guests will be able to see (and purchase) unique works of art made by 29 local artists. Tickets can be purchased at the door, or at redpintix.com/events/vernissage-material-obsession-10 -22-2026. Material Obsession coincides with Vernissage, an exhibition preview series. Proceeds supporting exhibition programming and educational initiatives at KMAC.

It's Spooky Season! Join us for a *Costume* Poetry Slam on Saturday, October 31st at 5:30pm. The Slam is a competition amongst local poets and juried by audience members. Prizes are awarded to the top three poets. Admission to this event is free, and there is a $10 fee for those interested in competing. The KMAC Poetry Slam is presented in partnership with Lance Newman and Young Poets of Louisville.

This exhibition is guest curated by Taylor Dooley Burden, Director of Traditional Arts at South Arts, and features work by Delia Fian, Candace Mullins, Roxie Fricton, Micah Wiles, Brian Melton, Skye Tafoya, Katie Bister, Orlando Corona, Edy Aguilar, and Amanda Banks.

Celebrate the closing of "The Visionary Art of Minnie Evans" and join us for a panel discussion TOMORROW, Sunday, October 4th at 2pm. Panelists will explore how art and faith or spiritual practices can work together in an artist's journey, practice, or way of using art to interact with the world. The panel will be moderated by Ramona Dallum and feature insights from Alayna Altman, Dr. Jabani Bennett, Jon Cherry, Gray Henry, and Sirene Martin. This event is free and open to the public.

The Visionary Art of Minnie Evans is on view until October 4th, and is made possible by funding from Art Bridges.
