I started on the Second Bottle Lid Mural over the weekend. You can’t Float like a Butterfly🦋without Stinging like a BEE🐝 …lol! I have been really busy at work for the past month and a half seems but glad to squeeze in Parklet work in my free time. I’m really excited about this part of the project. Tell me what you think. 📚💚 Look what arrived for the Parkland Parklet! Our Love Your Block Little Library sign has been delivered, and I think it really dresses up the library! 🥰 It’s the little details that make a space feel special.

These are both mock photos of some of the future additions coming to the Parkland Parklet! 🌳✨
I finally have a map of where the first two bottle lid murals will be installed, and we’re aiming to have them up before winter arrives. 🦋🐝
Please bear with me as I sometimes worry I’m not moving fast enough. Trust me, I am most definitely rushing to make this space safer and better for the women raising their children on this block, the men providing for their families, and the seniors who deserve to retire, relax, and enjoy their neighborhood. ❤️

The murals will be installed with a large gap underneath so we don’t create any new hiding spots. They’ll also be low enough for everyone to easily see, appreciate, and enjoy the artwork.

Big THANK YOU to everybody who came out yesterday to help me clean up the Parkland Parklet! ❤️ I truly couldn’t do this without y’all. We worked, laughed, learned a lot, and had a GREAT time doing it!

And honestly… I’m just so happy the squad was back together again! 🥹💪🏾 . Always let me know when I can be there for you. Limerick Neighborhood Association so thankful for this collab!!!! This is a first of many. Thank you so much for coming out and offering so much support.

Did you know?

Louisville Metro residents can recycle up to 4 passenger tires for free at the Waste Reduction Center on Meriwether Avenue (LouisvilleKY.gov/WRC) or at participating Pop-Up Drop-Off events (LouisvilleKY.gov/PopUps).

Have more than 4 tires to dispose of? Save the date for our Waste Tire Collection Event on October 1, 2, and 3. Any Kentucky resident or business is eligible to participate in this event EXCEPT tire retailers, scrap/salvage yards, and recycling facilities. No limit. (Louisvilleky.gov/tire-event)

Tires dumped illegally or left outdoors can collect standing water, attract mosquitoes, and create environmental and safety hazards. Dispose of tires properly to help protect our neighborhoods and waterways.

Over the past few days, me and my son have been planting some beautiful hydrangeas donated to us by The Hydrangea Project . We thank them deeply for supporting the Parkland Parklet! 💚
Today we’re putting down the mulch and finishing up the job. Just sharing a few photos of the process.

We had company come by the Parklet today and we are so sorry had to see this. Thank you for coming to the Parkland Parklet and truly SEEING it. Not just the alley, but the vision, the work, the love, and the reason behind it. Thank you for telling the story. Thank you for showing love to the Parkland Parklet.

I need help cleaning this up 🫂………I planned a group clean up in collaboration with Limerick Neighborhood Association for this Sunday from 10:30 am until about 1 pm. Come join us if ya can.
