Port of Ludington Maritime Museum Located in a former U.S. Coast Guard Station, this family-friendly, three-story museum overlooks Lake Michigan and the Ludington North Breakwater Lighthouse.

This week the museum will be open through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. From Oct. 8-24 it will be open Thursday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. It will then close for the season

Over the weekend, we had some special visitors at the museum. Capt. Ed Wiltse, master of the SS Badger, Charlie Arnott, second mate of the Badger, and Roger LeLievre, editor/publisher of "Know Your Ships" stopped by for a tour. In this photo, Capt. Wiltse supervises the operations of the SS Pere Marquette 22 simulator as Roger mans the wheel and Charlie operates the Chadburns. We are happy to report that they succesfully navigated the ship into Ludington harbor. This week the museum will be open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. From Oct. 8-24 it will be open Thursday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. It will then close for the season.

What a night! From the trivia and historical costumes to the auctions and games, our Annual Gala celebrating 50 Years of Historic White Pine Village was truly one for the history books.

Thank you to everyone who joined us, gathered your friends, dressed up, bid generously in our auctions, and helped us celebrate this incredible milestone.

Your support helps sustain all of the work of the Mason County Historical Society, from preservation and exhibits at Historic White Pine Village to the Port of Ludington Maritime Museum and the Emporium and Archives.

Here's to the next 50 years, and to 2027, when we celebrate the Maritime Museum's 10th anniversary and MCHS's 90th! We couldn't do any of this without this community.

Tomorrow's the night!

After 50 years of growing Historic White Pine Village into the largest living history museum on the west side of Michigan, it's finally time to celebrate.

Join us Saturday, September 26 at the Stearns Hotel Ballroom. Doors open at 6:00 p.m. Come hungry, come ready for trivia and auctions, and don't forget to dress the part if you're going for Best Historical Costume!
