Esteban Balanguer Trelles .the.collector added his name to the wall of artists in our loading dock today before his departure. His Instagram handle includes “the collector” and we believe it is perfectly appropriate, as he collected the love, admiration, and respect of everyone he encountered during his two visits to Lufkin. His joyful spirit and contagious enthusiasm coupled with attention to detail and strong work ethic made him a dream to work with through every part of the Impressionists Immersive journey. We are grateful for Esteban as well as everyone he met during his time in Lufkin—he felt so welcomed and at home due to the kindness of many. As we told him, it’s not goodbye—just see you later. Godspeed, Esteban!

Counting the minutes until Monday morning when Art Camp 2026 officially kicks off! 🎉🥳 We can’t wait to share our summer with your children and watch their creativity in action. 🎨🖌️🖼️ Today is teen assistant training day and Heather and Brittney are doing a great job, as is our team in training. We’ve switched out the banners at the front entry, Chad delivered our adorable t-shirts, our friends from the now closed Lufkin Printing donated so many beautiful sheets of paper, Stan and Gladys have come up to do some prep work, and delivery drivers are undoubtedly tired of from all the stops they’ve been making over the last several weeks for supply drops . . . It’s getting real! We’ll see you soon!

Photos of our incredible volunteers putting in the work to get Impressionists Immersive moved to its next location in Allentown, Pennsylvania. We are so grateful for the many helping hands that made the deinstall possible—the Museum is blessed indeed to have so many friends who give their time, energy, and strength to this place!

Art Camp Class Spotlight!

Art Styles with Nadi Robin
Explore the world of 5 iconic artists and bring their styles to life! In this class, students will experiment with bold, graphic techniques inspired by Roy Lichtenstein, dive into the world of Tim Burton, explore the expressive brushstrokes of Vincent van Gogh, break forms into bold shapes like Pablo Picasso, and capture emotion through color and movement like Edvard Munch.

Each session blends art history with hands-on creation, helping students build skills, expand their creativity, and begin developing a style all their own.

We are delighted to introduce you to the newest member of our Museum team, Mrs. Brittney Floyd. 🎉🎉

She has taught in East Texas since 2015 (she taught in China before that) and she is simply adored by her students. She is truly passionate about education and making a positive impact in their lives. 🍎🍏🍎

She is an artist who paints murals (that beautiful butterfly in downtown Lufkin, Common Sense Coffee Shop, and more), banners, and pretty much anything she can get her hands on. 🖼️🖌️🎨

She’s a community volunteer and mom who can often be found at church and the ball fields in her spare time. ✝️⚾️🧢

Her newest hat 👒🎩🧢 is Director of Community Outreach at the Museum of East Texas. She will be teaching Art Camp this summer, as she did last summer, and we can’t wait for you to meet and welcome her!

If ever a picture 📸 captured the essence of the Museum of East Texas, this is it. Thanks to Jenny Johnston for capturing and sharing this image of her adorable grandson Oliver enjoying himself at Impressionists Immersive. 🎨🖌️🖼️

We are all about providing a place for all ages to gather, see and experience art, create their own masterpiece, and have fun in a welcoming space. Art brings joy and it brings communities together—and we are so proud to have spent the last 50 years doing just that for our visitors.

No admission fee assures accessibility for all and is key to our mission. While we are closed this week (May 23-31) to prepare for our summer Art Camp, our doors reopen June 1 and we’ve got some great exhibits heading your way this summer. ✨

Stay tuned and stay plugged in—you don’t want to miss what’s in store!

Earlier tonight, we hosted a members only farewell reception celebrating the close of Impressionists Immersive — and we were reminded once again just how much this Museum family means to us. ✨

Because of our members, the Museum of East Texas is able to open its doors to our community every day with free admission for all. Their support makes art accessible, welcoming, and available to everyone across East Texas.

To our members: thank you for believing in the power of art, education, and community. Thank you for showing up, supporting boldly, and helping make moments like these possible.

This exhibition may be coming to a close, but the impact of your generosity continues every single day. 💛🖼️
