Replicating. Why? For the challenge, for fun, and for Love.
My little Grogru was made from wet & needle felted Wool, Llama fiber, & Camel down. It stands about 10" tall with a wire armature throughout. This project was, of course, inspired by "The Mandalorian", & my muses, Mike & Mel.

This piece was recently completed after having been on my table for over a year! I was attracted to the image that I found on Pinterest. Unfortunately, I don't know who to credit for the original design!
I wet pre-felted the white base and needled the design into it. In the center is embedded a piece of dichroic glass made by my son. The entire piece was wet felted which, of course, dulled my colors, so I went back and needled more wool to brighten it up again. I finished it off with stitching and suspended it in a hoop. The design represents my love for a very special Aries ♈ individual.

Because other activities have called to me more loudly during this time of Covid-19,
I have very little recent felting to show.
However, last fall, the Feltmakers study group got together to try our hand at felted Pinecone hats. We were inspired by the one Dawn Edwards made. Her hat was featured in the Australian magazine, "Felt" in 2016, issue 16.
My version shaped up like this!

This 24" x 30" rug is composed of felted "pebbles" sewn onto a mesh fabric. My friend, Melanie, helped make some of the 150 pebbles, each one created by felting neutral colored wool around small foam pieces. That was a big job! A Canadian friend, Dorothy, donated some bison fiber unspun yarn which really helped to help create the effect of actual stone.
I may put the rug just outside my sauna but for now I placed it on the back of my rocker in the studio. Ozzie seems to approve!

For 9 months in 2019 I utilized time in my studio creating an assignment offered to me by my dear friend Mike Carraher. In February he asked me if I'd be interested in making a felted sculptural representation of the dragon puppet, Falcor, (the pink puppy faced good luck dragon from the movie, "The Never Ending Story").
It was a challenging and rewarding labor of love as I encouraged various fine fibers such as Merino wool, Mohair, Angora, Cashmere, Silk, and Camel down along with lace fabric to replicate the texture and form of this creature. I used the technique of wet felting for the main body and needle felting for the face and other details. It is 36" in length and has a wire armature.
Mike guided me along the way as the sculptural form was developed. When it was time for me to work on facial details it was determined that I should strive to create a resemblance of Ozzie, Mike and Melanie's beloved dog.
We decided to name it(him) Ozcor. We feel like something magical happened in his creation and we're very happy with the results. Ozcor now resides in his forever home, gifted to Melanie from Mike on her birthday. I miss him but he's not very far away.

Rock Bridge High School Show Choirs are having their annual Appetizer & Dessert Benefit concert with Silent Auction the evening of
April 13th. (Columbia, MO) I made this Nuno-felted wool and silk piece for the Silent Auction. I hope it will bring some nice bids for the support of this awesome organization.
(For the love of my grandson who is a member of the City Lights Show Choir! 💖☮️🎶🌈)

These felted wool mushroom guys spent the last two months out in the winter weather at the Overland Park, KS Arboretum. Now they're nestled under my lilacs in Lupus. I think the sun had more of an impact on them than the ice and snow. Nice to having them in my midst again.

These are the pieces that I made for this year's Felted Forms at the Overland Park, KS Arboretum. Mushrooms! Yes, above and below, we are all connected! They will be along the Arboretum trail for the next couple months along with the work of several other felt artists.

The May meeting of the CWSG Feltmakers met at River Village Fiber Arts Studio. We played with Calamari felting techniques and rovings with and without Nuno. Thanks, Ruth, Bonnie, and Debbie for making the trip to Lupus. We had such a great time as can be seen in our faces!

Most recent flower cord. I was inspired to make this piece for a benefit auction for the Rock Bridge High School Show Choir. I used green and gold wool, silk, and metallic fibers to represent the school colors. A labor of love, for sure, as my grandson is a member of this group!
