Calling all creatives/artists/musicians from Jamaica! The Mackinac Arts Council wants to talk to YOU.

The Mackinac Arts Council has been creating and sharing videos of Mackinac residents talking about the arts on Mackinac Island for the past several years, and now we'd like to hear from different groups of island employees. This year, we'd like to interview (and videotape) at least four island residents/employees from Jamaica.

We are hoping to record the interviews on September 11, and the edited videos would be shared on the Mackinac Arts Council website and on social media. Participants would also get their own copy of the unedited video interview. The interview questions will be given to participants ahead of time, and will focus on art, music, and creativity on Mackinac Island.

If you are from Jamaica and interested in being interviewed this year, please contact Marsha (707-509-9213; [email protected]) and let her know 1) your name, 2) your place of employment, 3) how long you have worked on Mackinac and 4) why you would like to be a part of this project.

Great news! Mackinac’s Little Gallery will continue to serve our loyal patrons. We have sold the gallery to Mark Ware and Mission Point Resort. Mark is a Mackinac Island resident and he feels our little gem needs to stay open. Kathy will still be here to greet and serve you.

We opened in 2012 and have enjoyed thousands of art enthusiast. So many fun stories over the years. I am very proud of all our artists and the collection we have presented for you to see.

Keep enjoying Mackinac. This year,
The Mackinac Arts Council, tagged a line “Mackinac is art”, I wholeheartedly agree. I’m happy that Mackinac’s Little Gallery has been a part in that… but even happier it will continue.
