Pardon our progress...BIG things are coming! @

The doors have been removed from the cases to encourage our visitors to get a better look and feel of our displays.👀 You're going to love what will be installed in the middle! 🥳

We were pleased to see Quinn and Vicky Speck, who donated our two Archistrat computers and other prototypes, drop by to say hi and be amazed by their now working donations! 🥰

Come see the progress for yourself. We're open whenever the Library is open!

(and yes, I'm dangerous with a drill!) 🧰🛠

We love happy visitors who leave reviews, not to mention 47 new photos of our collection! @

The Wayback Machine, operated by the Internet Archive, has long preserved websites so researchers, journalists, and the public can revisit and verify the past.

At the , we believe preserving history isn’t just about hardware - it’s about access to information. Without it, accountability, research, and our understanding of technological progress all suffer.

Visitors to the can even explore the Wayback Machine themselves...on a period-appropriate iMac no less (!)...experiencing firsthand how the web is being preserved for the future.

As major news outlets cut off the Wayback Machine, journalists and advocacy groups are rallying to protect the Internet Archive’s vast collection of web pages.

Before we had smart phones in every classroom, we had this plastic hunk of 1960s genius. 🎓✨

Meet the TMI-Grolier Min/Max II. It looks like a chunky typewriter’s weird cousin, but it was actually one of the first big swings at "personalized learning technology."

The vibe was simple:

Read a question on a strip of paper. 📄

Write your answer in the little window. ✍️

Crank the k**b to see if you were right. ⚙️

It was basically a low-tech version of Duolingo, built on the idea that getting an immediate "correct" answer would hit your brain with enough dopamine to keep you learning. No Wi-Fi, no screens, just pure mechanical satisfaction.

Thanks to Dr. Jennifer Brannon for the donation!

A single frame of 4K video could crash the computers onboard the Voyager probes.

The Museum of Technology at Middle Georgia State University recently welcomed computer science students from Macon County High School in Montezuma, Georgia, for an immersive, hands-on exploration of computing history.

The visit was coordinated through the Department of Information Technology within the School of Computing, where faculty curator Tina K. Ashford works closely with student organizations and faculty colleagues to provide engaging outreach experiences for regional schools.

During their two-hour visit, students participated in a guided tour of the Museum’s collection, examining original hardware systems that shaped the development of personal computing, networking, and cybersecurity. The experience also included an interactive scavenger hunt designed to reinforce key concepts and encourage deeper engagement with the artifacts.

One of the highlights of the visit was the opportunity for students to play vintage games on original systems, an experience that underscores how innovation evolves over time while core computing principles remain foundational.

A special thank you to the School of Computing volunteers: Dr. Spangler, Dr. Stines, Dr. Knighton, Dr. Rigole, and Dr. Floyd, along SoIT student AJ Sutherland, who shared their valuable experiences and insights with the group. @
