Oops! Invitation mix-up!

Hi everyone,

We're writing to you regarding the invitations that were recently mailed out for our GALA 2025. It seems we've had an unfortunate mix-up with our mailing list at the post office, and some of the names and addresses were mismatched on the envelopes.
If you received an invitation with your address but the wrong name (or vice versa!), we promise the invitation was meant for you! Please disregard the envelope error, the important information inside is correct.
We're so sorry for any confusion this caused and appreciate your understanding. If you have any immediate questions, please feel free to reach out to us directly.

Thanks so much for your patience!

Best regards,

The MCHS Board of Directors

Madera County Museum to Hold Free Open House

The Madera County Museum will hold a free open house starting at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 27, 2025, at the old County Courthouse at 210 W. Yosemite Avenue in Madera.

The open house will be held as part of the annual Old Timers' Day celebration.

It also will commemorate the 70th anniversary of the founding of the Madera County Historical Society. Museum displays will depict life in Madera and in the United States in 1955, when the Society was founded.

The Museum won "gold" (first place) in the annual Best of Central California contest in 2025 in the categories of "Best Museum" and "Best Place to Volunteer."

It won "bronze" (third place) in the "Best Attraction" contest.

The museum houses about 21,000 historical artifacts and photos on three floors.

It is inside the old Madera County Courthouse, which began construction in 1900, was burned on Christmas Eve 1906 and rebuilt shortly afterward.

The museum will open on Sept. 27 immediately following the conclusion of the annual Old Timers Day Parade in Madera. It will remain open until 2 p.m.

Sheryl Berry, president of the Historical Society, and her husband Randy will be this year's Queen and King of the parade.
