David Dunlop will be featured as a solo artist in our upcoming exhibition, Light and Vibration, opening June 5th. Golden light drifts through the landscape as the winding stream reflects deep blues, rich greens, and soft golden passages of light across the water. Painted on brushed gold laminated aluminum, the luminous ground layered with successive translucent glazes creates a remarkable vibration of color and light, allowing the entire painting to shimmer with warmth and luminosity. Loose, layered brushwork gives the grasses and trees rich texture and a flowing sense of movement, while subtle shifts between cool and warm tones create atmospheric harmony throughout the scene. Reflections flicker and dissolve along the winding stream, inviting you to see and feel the landscape shift before your eyes. The painting feels alive with atmosphere, motion, and a shimmering sense of light.

Soft evening light settles across the shoreline as rolling waves catch shimmering reflections beneath a sky filled with subtle shifts of color and atmosphere. Expressive brushwork gives the surf movement and texture, while soft transitions between pinks, lavenders, cool blues, and silvery grays create a sense of calm as the day fades into dusk. A luminous band of reflected light stretches across the water and wet sand, enhancing the painting’s atmospheric glow. The entire scene feels suspended between motion and stillness, inviting you to linger in the changing light just a little longer.

Luminous clouds drift across the deep blue early summer sky as they billow upward with remarkable volume and movement. Below, fields of soft grasses and delicate white flowers stretch across the landscape, creating a peaceful rhythm of light and texture beneath the expansive sky above. Varied tones of greens and warm oranges weave through the trees and distant hills, leading the eye naturally toward the hazy mountains beyond.

As the artist describes, “This scene brings the sweet scent of mountain air, new blossoms and fresh breezes vividly to mind, and makes me breathe deeper. The deep blue early summer sky with white clouds floating along carry the promise of many more warm days to come.”

There are just two weeks left to experience the Cloudscapes exhibition, where skies, atmosphere, shifting weather, and light inspire a powerful sense of awe. Now is the ideal time to visit before the show closes.

There’s a moment at sunset when everything begins to glow, and this painting holds onto it.

Layered swirls of clouds move across the sky in subtle gray blues, with coral oranges, soft ambers, and deeper burnished gold breaking through. The sunset sky is radiant, a warm coral band stretching along the horizon.

Even the marsh grasses, tall wind swept coastal reeds, catch the sun’s warmth, their edges touched with golds that echo the sky.

It’s a quiet moment that stays with you.

The entire scene feels illuminated, its warmth spreading across everything it touches.

This painting is on view alongside 70 others in our Cloudscapes exhibition, which opened this past Friday. Thank you to everyone who came out and made the event special. The show continues through May 30. Link in bio.

The clouds appear misted and atmospheric, and you can almost feel the moisture in the air, seen in muted whites and cool blues, with brighter passages where the light breaks through. There is no hard line at the horizon, as sky, land, and water transition gently into one another. In the foreground, the marsh grasses are layered in yellows and greens, with touches of orange, each catching the light differently and creating a natural texture that feels alive. The water shifts between soft turquoise, muted blues, and touches of warm amber, reflecting both sky and land. Light moves through the entire painting, connecting sky, water, and marsh in a unified whole.

This painting is on view tonight, April 17th, from 5–8 PM, as part of our exhibition CLOUDSCAPES, alongside 70 other paintings. You can meet this artist, David Dunlop, along with several others featured in the show, and experience these works firsthand.
