South Arkansas Heritage Museum, Inc., (SAHM) is a regional historical non-profit museum celebrating the history and heritage of our local people. We are based in Columbia County, but are also dedicated to our neighboring counties in southwest Arkansas of

Nevada, Lafayette, and Miller. Our mission is to preserve and protect the history and heritage of this area by collecting, maintaining, and displaying artifacts that depict the past lives of our forefathers. We do not share or sell any information regarding our artifact donors, financial donors, members, vendors, or volunteers. We are governed by our Board of Directors who set forth our corporate Bylaws and Policies in May 2016 as directed by Arkansas state incorporation laws. We are a legal 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation chartered in the Great State of Arkansas. We are members in good standing of the Magnolia-Columbia County Chamber of Commerce, the Arkansas Museums Association, the Arkansas Historical Society, and the American Alliance of Museums. Memberships and volunteer opportunities are always available. Who We Are

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

We are south Arkansas’ only regional historical museum celebrating the heritage of our local people. We are an educational institution, focusing primarily upon history and culture, guided by generally accepted principles and standards of museum stewardship, archival management, and historical research. We assume as our responsibilities:

  • To collect, research, preserve, restore, catalog, and document artifacts from our collection and community that promote understanding of the way of life of our past generations;

  • To focus our efforts on the primary preservation categories of tools and industrial artifacts; furnishings; artistic efforts; clothing and related fabric arts; home crafts and utilitarian objects; photographs and documents; military service-related memorabilia; and any other items identifying the occupations, pastimes, entertainments, and hobbies of our ancestors in south Arkansas, but particularly in Columbia, Nevada, and Lafayette counties.
