Our new board president, Linas Kojelis, was featured in the Malibu Post today: Congratulations!

The Adamson House Board of Directors last week elected a new president in the hopes of a fresh start in its relations with State Parks, which owns the historic house, and the docent volunteers, who run the day-to-day operations of the property.

Our Board President Ceci Wigen with Ernie Marquez, a friend of Adamson House for over 30 years. Today he was presented with a lifetime membership in recognition of his contributions to our archive collections. The Huntington Library Art Collections recently acquired Marquez's unrivaled set of 4,600 images of early Southern California, including scarce pictures of 1870s Santa Monica and Los Angeles.

Our annual fundraiser is coming up! Sunday, September 28, 1 - 4 p.m. Spend the afternoon on the beautiful grounds of Adamson House, sip champagne, enjoy a tasty lunch, and learn how to glaze your own decorative tile in the style of the historic Malibu Potteries. Today the Malibu Adamson House Foundation accepted a $5,000 grant from Southern California Edison (represented by Mark Olson) to support the mission of the foundation and the upcoming Glaze-a-Tile fundraising event on September 28. For more information, go to www.adamsonhouse.org/events.html

Adamson House will be open for special tours on Sunday, July 6, 2014 from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm. Refreshments will be served and docent-guided tours of the house will be given. In addition to the house tour, enjoy visiting the Malibu Lagoon Museum and strolling the beautiful property overlooking Surfrider Beach and the Malibu Lagoon. And don't forget to visit our Visitors Center with a treasure trove of unique souvenirs and keepsakes.

RSVP is not required-just come on down to Malibu!

Join us for the first Beyond the Gates: Discovery Tour on March 30, 2014 featuring a lecture and tour highlighting Spanish Colonial Revival Architecture.

The program features a presentation by distinguished professor, architecture and design historian, Eleanor Schrader and runs from 9:30 am to 12:00 noon. The cost is $27 for lecture, tour, and light refreshments.
