The goal is 100 “Quick Collages”. “Quick Collages” are Instagram friendly to be sure. Just about every week I can easily stream a new one. The Quick Collages were born for the internet. However, unfortunately, nuance and subtlety are lost in translation. Tiny pictures can only relay so much. Whatever is lost through flat screens I make up for in quantity. When I reach 100 we can celebrate.

Earth, Wind, Fire, and Water. This rough drawing obviously represents “Wind”. After multiple warm-up sketches, I have settled on a general composition for the Earth, Wind, Fire, and Water. This rough drawing, obviously “Wind” will be the third in the series. I have been painting big concepts for the last serval years. I enjoy using classic ideas, bringing them down to humble earth. The Marciano Art Foundation in Beverly Hills hosted a Gagosian exhibition of the largest paintings I have ever seen in a gallery. The giant gallery was dim with a black background. The huge multi-media paintings had to do with Exodus, from the Bible. This show attempted to capture for 21st-century minds the magnitude of that historical event. I fully acknowledge I can only begin to grasp the story…

The “Quick Collages” are about working with materials readily at hand. I have a very messy workspace. As I go through all the various images, papers, pamphlets, etc. floating across my work surface, I come up with the best collage combinations when I am attempting to bring order to this chaos. One approach to art is just that. Art is very often an effort to bring order to chaos.
