Salon Des Amis Gallery History The Salon des Amis Gallery was founded in 1994 by Robin Hotchkiss. Set in a quaint carriage house, the building has a long and storied history.

Seeing a need for a place to exhibit the local talent of Chester County, Robin opened her gallery after originally using the studio to show the artwork of her friends. The reputation of the gallery has since grown and showcases the tri-state’s most acclaimed artists. It dates to the 19th century, next to the property's 18th century home that witnessed the marching of General George Washington's tr

oops back and forth to field positions on Yellow Springs Road along the outskirts of Valley Forge. The small two-story structure has grown from a humble stable, garage, chicken coop, country store, and antique store to it’s present form as the Salon Des Amis Gallery. "The reason I named it Salon des Amis is because it means, 'House of Friends,'" Hotchkiss noted. "It starts with a house of friends who become a family. It's a place where everybody's welcome and has fun."

This is Robin Livingston, initial Administrator of this page and former housemate of Robin Hotchkiss. I only just found out about her passing and am deeply, deeply saddened. My condolences to all of her friends and family. She was so vibrant and amazing, charming and infectious that she shall never be forgotten and surely greatly missed. I am sharing two facebook photo albums I made several years ago that will hopefully bring back some happy memories for some of you and give a perspective on her everyday life.
