Manitowoc County Historical Society - Museum and Pinecrest Village The Manitowoc County Historical Society brings the story of our community to life through hands-on experiences that inspire and educate.

This 60 acre living history museum includes immigrant homes, trades, and village life at the turn of the 20th century. Nestled in the scenic rolling Ice Age Kettle Moraine countryside of Eastern Wisconsin, the Manitowoc County Historical Society is a museum of living history. Feel the heat from the blacksmith's forge, take part in one-room school lessons, and find your ancestor's name in our archives. This 60-acre interpretive museum of local history features a Welcome Center with local history exhibits and research services and the outdoor Pinecrest Historical Village - a collection of over 25 historic buildings with period furnishings from Manitowoc County's early settlers. Our last Old Fashioned Fish Fryday of the year was filled with colorful leaves, and new and old friends! We can't say thank you enough to everyone who joined us for fish frys those season. A huge shout out goes to the Smiling Moose for bringing our vision to life better than we ever expected.

This is what local history is about. Celebration. Sharing stories. And making sure our historic structures still live.

Our Historic Dinner Series presents a Winter Dinner at the Meeme House on Saturday, November 14 at 11:30 am.

Thanksgiving in the late 1800s looked a little different from the holiday menu many of us know today. It was not recognized as a national holiday until Abraham Lincoln declared it in 1863, encouraged by writer and editor Sarah Josepha Hale, who had spent years campaigning for a day of reflection and gratitude.

Across the 19th century, families marked the occasion in their own ways with foods that reflected the season, their region, and what they had on hand. At our final Historic Dining event of the year, guests will enjoy a menu inspired by dishes you might have found on a Wisconsin table in that era.

It is always special to share these dishes at the end of our season. They serve as quiet reminders of how food connects us across time and how traditions continue to grow and change.

Join our Manitowoc County Historical Society Museum and Pinecrest Village for our annual fall clean up on Thursday November 5 and Friday November 6 from 10 am until 3 pm! Get behind the scenes in our historic structures as we prepare for the winter season.

Volunteers are needed to help rake leaves, prepare garden spaces, and clean our historic structures.

Take a Create-Connect Workshop and learn a new (timeless) skill!

A full slate of workshops takes place as part of our Holiday Open House on Saturday, November 14. Advanced registration is required for the Create-Connect workshops. Your workshop fee also includes general admission for the day!

Holiday Blacksmithing: Students will have the opportunity to make a candy cane in the blacksmith shop.

Holiday Greeting Card Printmaking Workshop: You’ll have the opportunity to print your creation onto a beautiful greeting card using the press in the Historic Village’s Printing Office, and take home a set of six printed notecards with envelopes.

Cup Cakes and Cocoa: This popular simple sweet treat always tastes better baked in the woodstove and served with from-scratch hot chocolate. Help us mix up a pot of hot chocolate to drink and a batch of cupcakes to enjoy in the cozy holiday kitchen

Kick off the holiday season with our Holiday Open House on Saturday, November 14 from 11 am to 3 pm. The Holiday Open House made possible in part by WOMT 100, Alliance Laundry Systems, and Fox Communities Credit Union.

Get into the holiday spirit when you visit for our historic structures of Pinecrest Village! Prepare for winter yourself by taking part in a special Create-Connect workshop, help townspeople get into the holiday spirit, and shop the Museum Store.
