Hello all, we continue to work on making displays available at the Library so if you want a small museum peek, stop at the Library and take a look. We are leaving this page open for a while longer although we will start posted mostly to the Will Mayfield Heritage Foundation page because it's too hard to manage two pages fully. The Save our History link on the Library web site will also let you look at our history archive so far. We are struggling a little with the open source catalog to get it to accept the way we want to archive but we have about 700 items in the catalog thus far. Browsing is the best way to view so far. You can test searching by name and have fun. Have a safe holiday weekend. God Bless America.

Time to take a look at the work we've been doing since we closed the museum. Our online archive is shaping up as we try to digitize photos, doc and artifacts for all to see. Go to bocolib.com and click on the "Save our History" link. It's not perfect but you will begin to see what we are up too. Exhibits inside the library include the Peter Bess settlement, a right on time Baseball exhibit, depression glass and several natural history ones. Partnering with the Library is an excellent way to showcase what needs to stay in Bollinger County. enjoy.

The deal is done. Today we closed on the sale of the Mayfield Hall building. Anthony Yates, Daniel Polanczyk and his son Patrick are the new owners of this beautiful landmark. We wish them a wonderful adventure and hope for great things from "their crew."

Another chapter has begun. The Will Mayfield Heritage Foundation closed the Museum a little over a year ago. Local history items and Natural history articles came to the Library. We have several showcases of exhibits going there right now. It makes for an interesting Library visit. The other items were either returned to owners or sent to Stars and Stripes, Altenburg Museum or Discovery Playhouse in Cape. The next item of business was to find the perfect person or organization to buy the beautifully restored National Register building so it could continue to be a jewel in our community. We believe we have found just that team. Daniel Polanczyk and his partner made an offer on the building and our board accepted it. Daniel understands our culture and the importance of this building remaining a center of activity in our area. We look forward to his plans. And…the Foundation is not going away. The proceeds of the sale will allow us to pay a part time person to keep the exhibits going in the Library. They will also archive the collections of the WMHF, the Museum, the Hahn collection, The Library collections and other regional history onto an online database that anyone can use. Our goal is to make sure that our history is not lost to time. The book has not been finished but we look forward to this chapter.

ELVIS HAS LEFT THE BUILDING! When we were starting to find new homes for our dinos and other exhibits, one thing we thought of as we found we had one large dino left. Bollinger County is dinosaur country and we need to showcase that even if the museum is no longer. So...we started reaching out to very visible businesses to see if t hey would want to host a very unique guest for our visitors to enjoy. Co-op agreed to host our allosaurus and Wesbecher Construction did the moving and placing. Tim told me he thought a dino might be the most unique thing he ever had on his trailer. I agreed. The Will Mayfield Foundation and Museum hope that all can enjoy a bit of our history. Enjoy!!

Another step has been taken. The Foundation and Museum want to thank all of you who came and bought almost all the items we had at our tag sale. It's hard to believe that when all the items are picked up almost 24 years of goods and memories will be distributed all over our community. Now our next step is to find that person who will buy our building to have a new purpose for our community. God Bless all who made this wonderful adventure possible. Stay tuned and we'll look forward to the next chapter.
