We’re grateful to Margarita and the artists near and far who continue to share their creativity and help raise awareness for our small nonprofit museum.

🌈 What began as a heartbreaking cancellation has become a beautiful reminder of why the arts matter.

Over the past several days, we’ve watched creativity and generosity ripple far beyond Marietta Square. From artists sharing their talents across the globe to local businesses finding their own ways to participate, this community has reminded us that the spirit of Chalktoberfest isn’t confined to one weekend—or one place.

We’re especially grateful to everyone who has contributed to the Marietta Cobb Museum of Art. Your support helps sustain the exhibitions, educational opportunities, and creative experiences that our small nonprofit brings to the community year-round.

There’s still much to do, and we’re exploring new opportunities to bring people together and continue recovering from the cancellation.

In the meantime, enjoy some of the incredible artwork shared in support of our museum. Each piece tells its own story of generosity, resilience, and connection.

I should be on the pavement in Marietta, Georgia, right now, surrounded by some of the world’s most talented chalk artists. But Hurricane Isaias had other plans, forcing the cancellation of this year’s Chalktoberfest, one of the largest chalk festivals in the world.

But where there’s rain there are rainbows. So Grumpy Bear and Cheer Bear are sending a little love from Pennsylvania to our friends down south.

Chalktoberfest, which features nearly 100 artists each year, is also a major fundraiser for the Marietta Cobb Museum of Art. Losing this year’s event means losing an important source of funding for an organization that does so much to support the arts.

If you’re able, please consider making a donation to the museum at https://mariettacobbartmuseum.org. The festival may be canceled, but our support for the arts doesn’t have to be.

Chalktoberfest 2026 may have been canceled due to the threat of severe weather and flooding, but the creativity doesn’t have to stop!

We’re the Marietta Cobb Museum of Art, the small nonprofit organization behind , and we’re calling on chalk artists, families, and creative spirits around the world to help us turn a rainout into a rainbow of art! 🌎

Here’s how YOU can join :

🎨 CREATE: Grab your chalk and make something beautiful wherever you are! Sidewalks, driveways, and pavement around the world are your canvas.

📸 SHARE: Post your masterpiece, tag and follow Marietta Cobb Museum of Art and Chalktoberfest, and use so we can celebrate your work!

❤️ SUPPORT: Chalktoberfest is our museum’s largest annual fundraiser. With this year’s cancellation, our tiny nonprofit staff of just seven is facing the loss of tens of thousands of dollars in funding that supports exhibitions, arts education, and community programming.

This is not the announcement we wanted to make. 💔
Due to the severe weather forecast for this weekend, we have made the difficult decision to cancel Chalktoberfest 2026, including the Craft B**r Festival and Community Chalk Competition, scheduled for October 10–11.

In the history of Chalktoberfest, we have never faced a weather forecast severe enough to require this decision. With the potential for flooding rains, high winds, and dangerous conditions, the safety of our artists, guests, volunteers, vendors, and staff must come first.

We know how disappointing this is. More than 80 artists from across the country and around the world have spent months preparing. Our volunteers, sponsors, partners, vendors, and community have worked tirelessly to make this weekend possible, and thousands of you were preparing to join us on Marietta Square. We are heartbroken that we won’t get to experience it together this year.

We will be reaching out directly to affected participants and ticket holders with additional information. Please continue to follow our social channels and website for updates.
To every artist, volunteer, sponsor, partner, vendor, and member of our community who helped bring Chalktoberfest this far: thank you.

We hope you’ll join us when the chalk returns in 2027. ❤️🎨

Take a look back at this incredible work from last year’s Chalktoberfest by artist Brianna Cunha, and swipe to see some of the work in progress!

Long before the first piece of chalk hits the pavement, Chalktoberfest Chalktoberfest artists spend months developing and preparing their concepts for the festival. Then, over the course of the weekend, we get to watch those ideas come to life right on the streets of Marietta.

The hard work certainly shows. We loved Brianna’s finished piece so much, we even put it on a billboard!

And in just a few days, we get to watch a whole new group of incredible works take shape. ✨
