On Friday June 12, 2026, the Appalachian Spirit Gallery in Marion, Virginia will hold their monthly Second Friday Artwalk event. Beginning at 5 p.m. the Gallery will hold the largest sale of Ned Johnson's small and medium size paintings and drawings, both unframed and framed, that has ever been presented. Ned was a founding member of the gallery and has been displaying his work at the gallery since 2005.

Ned has cleaned out all the artwork that he has had stored in closets at home and has brought down all the artwork stored upstairs at the gallery just for this sale. Ned says "no reasonable offer will be refused" and he is now willing to part with paintings and drawings never seen before to the public. Now is a great opportunity for the public to get some original artwork for their bare walls.

Art For Today: A Holiday tradition in downtown Roanoke! Each year since 2014, the La De Da women's clothing store unveils, in their storefront window, a holiday dress made of almost entirely of candy and other sweet treats. I post their Christmas creations each year and they always amaze! This year, lots and lots of royal icing hold it all together. Enjoy!

If, as Herod, we fill our lives with things, and again with things; if we consider ourselves so unimportant that we must fill every moment of our lives with action, when will we have the time to make the long, slow journey across the desert as did the Magi? Or sit and watch the stars as did the shepherds? Or brood over the coming of the child as did Mary? For each one of us, there is a desert to travel. A star to discover. And a being within ourselves to bring to life.

May the blessings of peace and comfort, love and laughter be yours today and beyond!

Merry Christmas!

Today we are sad and remembering Duane Cregger (and his dog Baker) and the time we spent with him as a founding member of the Appalachian Spirit Gallery 20 years ago. We are reminded of all the creative paintings he displayed there during his time in Marion. May his soul know peace.
