The Rural Heritage Museum at Mars Hill University is now open to the public! Thanks for checking in! Welcome to the Rural Heritage Museum at Mars Hill University, where we explore American History from the distinct perspective of Western North Carolina. With an excellent collection of regional artifacts donated by local residents and the assistance of our valued community partners, we have been ab

le to produce and share first-class exhibitions that trace the history and development of this region. Through these exhibitions, we invite visitors to consider how Madison County and Western North Carolina can serve as microcosms for learning more about our nation's past and develop a contextualized understanding of some of the issues we may be facing. In 2013 the Rural Heritage Museum, formerly known as the Rural Life Museum, reopened with the assistance of the North Carolina Department of Transportation and Madison County, as well as with funding from the Janirve Foundation, the Marion Stedman Covington Foundation, and the Madison County Tourism and Development Authority (TDA). The Rural Heritage Museum is located on Rt. 213, in Montague Hall on the campus of Mars Hill University. Mailing address: Box 6705 Mars Hill University, Mars Hill, North Carolina, 28754.
