The Michelson Museum of Art was established in 1985 for the special purpose of accepting and caring for the life work of Russian-American artist Leo Michelson (1887 - 1978). Since then the museum has expanded to include the Gloria and Bernard Kronenberg Collection of early 20th century American art and the Ramona and Jay Ward Collection of African Masks and Chinese Opera Puppets.

Summer is almost upon us, and while we have lots of amazing summer classes you can sign up for, don’t forget our other summer events!

On June 18th, we will have a come-and-go Juneteenth art activity available for all ages 🎨🖌️ Don’t miss out on making awesome art with your friends and family!

On July 4th we will be participating in the 250th Celebration at the museum from 10am to 1pm - come cool down inside and make a little artwork while you’re here 🎆

Keep an eye out for where else we might be in the community this summer, and feel free to sign up for an art class while you’re here!

Looking for a fun and free way to pass the time this summer? Look no further than our summer art classes!

Rounding up June we have some awesome artists and movements to cover! On week 3 we’ll be learning about painting found objects with Dr. Chiquita Howard-Bostic 🎨🖌️

Week 4 will have an awesome lesson with Beth Aucoin covering classic artists like Edward Hopper, followed by Tyler Ryan teaching us all we need to know about abstract art and Jackson Po***ck 🫟

Today is International Museum Day, a celebration of the spaces where creativity, curiosity, and community meet.

We started the celebration a little early last Saturday with a therapeutic art class filled with color, calm, cakes, and connection.

It’s time to get excited! Summer is almost here, and what better way to spend it than learning art with the best 🎨🖌️

Our first two weeks of summer classes are filling up fast, so be sure to sign up today if you’re interested! Our first week is all about Native American pottery and hide/cave painting, lead by Katy Chance and Lainey Sagraves 🏺✨

Join us in Marshall to celebrate International Museum Day on Saturday, May 16, 2026. Spend the day exploring art and history at the Harrison County Historical Museum inside the 1901 Courthouse and Service and Sacrifice inside Memorial City Hall, the Starr Family Home State Historic Site, the Texas and Pacific Railway Museum at the Marshall Depot, and the Michelson Museum of Art.

Each location will have special experiences for the community. Check with each museum for hours and for details.
