Episode #22 Who was Colonel Paul?

Join us as we unpack a little known figure in southwest Missouri history. He has a Forrest Gump aspect about him, as we kept finding reference to this fellow and finally tracked him down. Join us for a rabbit-hole about someone who is now completely forgotten but sometime ago was a war hero, noted rascal, fraudster, murderer, purveyor of liquor by the glass, jury-fixer and attorney at law. So who was he?

We don’t have a picture of the old fellow, yet, but it’s certain he is in this group. The photo is of GAR Post #225 at decoration day 1900, decorating the graves of Major James Rush and his son Charles who died in the Philippines. The old Colonel was in charge of Decoration Day for many years.
