We have been watching the weather forecasts each day, keeping a watch on what the winds are doing as well as the cloud cover percentages as we narrow down just WHEN we will move the Spirit from Arlington Municipal Airport where she currently resides ... to Jefferson County International Airport where she will be placed on static display in the Port Townsend Aero Museum.
We are leaning toward making that move on Wednesday May 13th in the early morning hours. That being said, it could still be pushed off to Thursday instead, but as we've been watching conditions over the past couple of weeks ... it looks more and more like it will probably be Wednesday.
I will post again with the date we choose and the time so folks who would like to see her can make plans to be either in Arlington to say "good bye" or in Port Townsend to say "hello" and welcome her to her new home!
As we prepare to move our replica later this week, we are reminded that Charles Lindbergh broke the transcontinental record when he 'moved' his original "Spirit of St. Louis" 99-years ago today.
That flight took 14 hours and 25 minutes; considerably longer than our move from Arlington to Port Townsend will take 😉.
