"Introducing Massillon Community Arts Council: Creativity Within Community" is on view in the Fred F. Silk Room Gallery now through September 13, 2026. A free opening reception will be held on Saturday, May 30, 2026 from 5:30–8:00 p.m. The opening receptions for "Driving Forces: The Lincoln Highway Journey" and the Studio M show "Across the Ashen River" by Ariella Har-Even will be held concurrently.
The Massillon Community Arts Council strives to attract and foster art and culture in our community by connecting local artists, businesses, and organizations.
Our focus is growing a vibrant arts presence through creation of murals, public art, and shared creative spaces. At the heart of this vision is The QuARTer, located at the intersection of Diamond Court and Postal Place and surrounded by small businesses, the Massillon Museum, the Lions Lincoln Theatre, and more. We see it as a blank canvas full of potential. We envision a future arts district inspired by the energy and culture of the French Quarter in New Orleans, blending historic influence with a modern creative spirit.
As a city rooted in strong sports traditions, we carry that sense of unity forward. Sports inspire us to come together, and art teaches us how to live that connection daily. Massillon Community Arts Council is committed to finding creative ways in which to highlight the things that make Massillon special through artistic collaboration and shared experiences. When we connect through Massillon sports culture, businesses, and the arts, we create spaces where people feel inspired, connected, and proud of their Massillon community.
Creativity Within Community features the founding artists of the Massillon Community Arts Council—the individuals whose vision helped shape this collective. Each artwork reflects both personal expression and a shared purpose—to use art as a way to connect, uplift, and activate our community. Rooted in history and driven by creativity, this exhibition offers a glimpse into the energy behind the Council and the future it hopes to build.
