The Mattapoisett Museum is dedicated to the preservation of significant artifacts from Mattapoisett’s past, demonstrating the life and culture of this old New England town. We are housed in a charming 1821 Meeting House with an attached replica of a 250-year-old carriage house. The ancient pews, graceful galleries, and post and beam construction in the carriage house carry one back to when life re

volved around daily work, church, town meetings, and the waterfront. Mattapoisett Museum is always free for members.

Not a Mattapoisett Museum member? Children under 13 are free. We appreciate a $10 donation per adult but visitors are welcome to pay as little - or as much - as they like!

What a wonderful evening at the Mattapoisett Museum!

Thank you to everyone who joined us for our Annual Meeting and presentation, “Who Carved the Swordfish?”

Curator Connor Gaudet gave an entertaining and informative talk about Mattapoisett’s iconic swordfish weathervane, exploring its craftsmanship, history, and the mystery surrounding its creator. We enjoyed learning more about Harry D. Doty, Manuel R. Perry, and this beloved local landmark.

The evening was a great success, and we are grateful to everyone who helped make it possible. Thank you for supporting the Mattapoisett Museum!

What a wonderful Open Mic night at the Mattapoisett Museum last night! It was heartwarming to share an evening of live music and great performances from both regulars and newcomers. Thank you to everyone who made it such a special community event.

Join us at the Mattapoisett Museum for an afternoon of maritime music with the New Bedford Harbor Sea Chantey Chorus!

This harmonious crew of 24 singers will bring the rich traditions of Yankee sailors, whalers, fishermen, and mariners from North America, the Cape Verde Islands, and the British Isles to life through lively sea chanteys, ballads, and sailors’ ditties. Come ready to sing along, have fun, and celebrate our region’s maritime heritage!
