I think there is a little confusion about my book series.
So here is a synopsis of the story.
TLTR: Three middle aged women, survive an alien invasion and eventually reclaim the earth, becoming the leaders of the surviving world.
It's a long and a little cryptic, I don't want to give everything away, but it covers the entire 430k word series that spans a 15 year time period:
1 Love Letters
2 Hope, Faith, Loyalty (The Queens of the Mountain)
3 The Black Dragon
4 Vengeance For All
5 The Day of Remembrance
Love Letters
The tale of:
The Queen of the Mountain and The Warrior Princess
All great tales have a beginning.
The greatest tales come from humble beginnings and often times, great tragedy.
Love Letters:
In the beginning, The Wife was just a loving wife, a lawyer, with a bad ankle, whose life, for the most part, was easy.
Her husband took care of the day-to-day monotony of suburban living, allowing her to fulfill her career goals of becoming the best lawyer she could be.
At 35 when they met, she was well on her way to that goal and had found her true love.
That all changed one night with a knock on the door.
The Wife’s husband is called away in the middle of the night to fight with his old friends and coworkers as a citizen soldier against an unknown alien invasion.
She copes with his leaving by reading the love letters he writes for her, when he comes to visit her at night.
Those nights, when he comes to her, he also performs tasks that continue to make her life easy, even though the world she knew has been completely destroyed.
Her sister, who had moved out years ago to follow a path that she never discussed, had left that life behind. Then she hid it from everyone.
She returns to The Wife, she brings a lifelong family friend, a woman they welcomed as a sister.
A Dr, who by every metric, is incredibly successful but forever doubting herself. A hero lives within her waiting to be awakened.
They begin a new existence in the post-alien invasion world by just hiding and surviving, then, quickly, they stumble on a path to thriving, in a world overrun by the alien invaders.
Jana and The Wife, along with a reluctant Dr. Karen, begin a campaign to fight back. The way is led by the love letters, left by the husband and their own will and skills to survive in any way they can.
A great tragedy changes their course of action.
It is no longer viable for them to hide anymore.
The Wife reaches out into the ether to tell others how to survive the horrors that surround them.
They receive a response.
Jana reveals her deepest secret, and they are rescued.
They leave everything behind except their accumulated knowledge from 9 months hiding and fighting and an old revolver.
Once they are in a place of relative safety, a mountain fortress deep in the heart of West Virginia, and greeted by some old friends, a new threat becomes the enemy.
A crushing loss of hope and faith.
The Wife, with the guidance of Jana and the help of Dr. Karen, takes on this new foe and begins to defeat it. She builds new alliances and loyalty, with the promise of hope that will last the rest of her life, and a loyalty that fills a void in her existence she never thought could be filled again.
One of the threats, the crushing loss of hope, is defeated and creates a new and powerful force by instilling unwavering faith in the Warrior Princess, who serves the Queen of the Mountain.
An evil human foe is defeated, further bolstering faith in the Wife, Jana, and Dr. Karen to choose the correct path to victory.
The new companions, a group of great scientists, led by a man named Bob, create a new problem:
A weapon they can’t control.
Time passes. Jana decides to send the Wife and a pilot, The Chief, on a one-way mission to another secure base in their network to bolster their numbers and their ability to fight back against the alien invaders.
Along the way, they meet a man and his family, Colonel John Davidson and his wife, Debby. They join forces with the Wife and Jana and establish a safe haven for travelers and create another lifelong bond.
The Wife begins to tell:
The Tale of the Warrior Princess and the Queen of the Mountain To calm his frightened children.
Little does she know that fairy tale will live on forever, calming frightened children everywhere and striking fear into the hearts of the wicked.
She then travels to Colorado and faces the alien enemy head-on and is injured physically and mentally.
After her recovery, she travels the country, building more alliances and bolstering the numbers of their army.
Jana is awarded the burden of becoming the General of the Army by her faithful officers and the civilian citizens of the mountain fortress.
The Wife is awarded by Jana for her work, her own burden.
An elite private unit, and the beginning of the real war against the alien enemy.
This is the birth of Viri Amandi
The Black Dragon.
On their first mission as a unit, The Wife and her Dragons face a demon and destroy it, cementing the legend of The Warrior Princess and The Black Dragon.
There motto:
“Ultio Pro Omnibus In Omnia Paratus”
She is then faced with the unimaginable.
She must decide the life or death of a human, a human whose soul is beyond repair.
She chooses death.
It is the only choice, it is the right choice.
The new army now faces the threat of every great army, starvation.
The Warrior Princess leads a mission to secure a ranch to feed her Army of Mountain Men.
In the process, she adds two very powerful allies to the cause:
A healer, Dr. Michele, and a highly skilled and valiant warrior, Dan.
She becomes overconfident in her abilities and pays the price, as do several others under her command.
She falls into a deep depression and begins to doubt herself. Jana orders her out of the mountain fortress to secure what is needed to continue the fight.
She is wounded in battle by her own lack of self-awareness and again overconfidence.
Jana begins to have doubts in her sister's decision-making abilities, instead of stripping her of her command, she widens it. She sends her and a small group of her Dragons south of the border into Mexico to confront another survivor, a cartel man, with is own army, Fernando.
While at Fernando’s, she makes a turn, a dark one, down a path that she will never return from.
Jana asks The Wife for help and the experience of her Dragons to take the enemy head-on, with a daring mission, it is successful, they secure alien prisoners.
A scientist, named Ladybug, makes a discovery and requests the presence of Doc Brown.
As requested, she returns to the mountain fortress. She brings with her the warrior Dan along with an old and faithful friend of Jana, Mr. Jones.
Dan deals a crushing blow to The Warrior Princess.
Jana’s old friendship with Mr. Jones begins to falter.
The Wife leaves the mountain fortress for Mexico because she has grown weary of the stagnation of the war and again suffers from depression.
She suggests a terrible idea to The Chief, one beyond her abilities, she is instead offered a new mission, by John, a diplomatic mission that would eventually send her around the world, but not before placing her in a new predicament.
Humans that still insist on fighting among themselves.
On her trip, she is informed of a poor decision made by one of their greatest minds, Bob. That poor decision resulted in tragic consequences, and the emergence of a new and unlikely hero.
While staying at the mountain fortress studying the new prisoners, she is contacted by one of her Dragons, he informs her that an old nemesis has infiltrated Mexico, and is spreading the seeds of discontent and doubt.
She returns to Mexico, this trip completes her journey to a dark place.
She executes the man, in a very brutal way, to send a message:
She will not be defied, she will uphold her unit’s motto:
Vengeance for all, ready for anything.
That action clears the way for peace and unity throughout the world she has tried to unite, she becomes the world leader as foretold in the prologue.
She declares, a holiday:
A Day of Remembrance.
Then all-out war against the alien invaders.
Another great loss befalls them all.
She leaves the mountain fortress, and takes with her, a dear friend who never returns.
Over the next ten years, she leads the united human race during the war against the alien invaders, they are victorious.
On a Day of Remembrance, she returns to the mountain, and takes what is hers, and leaves a reminder of her sacrifice.
She returns to the Homestead and closes that chapter of her life.
100 years later:
A new generation pays a visit to the mountain fortress,
a generation that has never known war. They are confronted by the reality of the past.
They are told the tale of:
The Queen of The Mountain & The Warrior Princess
