RECOGNIZE the power of craft! ❤️‍🔥

The arts help shape Memphis, connecting our history, culture, and creative future. For 47 years, the Metal Museum has proudly preserved, promoted, and advanced the art of metalwork while creating opportunities for artists, makers, and learners from around the world.

Art is more than what we see in galleries or public spaces. It is craftsmanship, innovation, storytelling, connection, and community. Through our exhibitions, educational programs, and working studios, we witness every day how creative work brings people and places together.

We’re proud to be part of the movement. Join us in recognizing and celebrating the artists, organizations, and creative voices that make Memphis unlike anywhere else, and the power of craft to connect communities everywhere.

This exhibition is shaped by decades of craft, community, and shared learning. Each piece reflects the artistry and relationships that have helped define the Museum’s metalsmithing community through the years.

On view through July 31. Learn more about the exhibition at metalmuseum.org/what-we-surround-ourselves-with.

A glimpse of what’s to come at the new Metal Museum at Overton Park.

The Robyn and John Horn Sculpture Walk will feature major works by internationally acclaimed artists including Fletcher Benton, Boaz Vaadia, Catherine Lee, Tom Joyce, and more. Through a landmark donation from Robyn and John Horn, many of these pieces will now have a permanent home in Memphis as part of the Museum’s growing collection.

Thoughtfully woven throughout the Overton Park landscape, these large-scale works invite visitors to experience metalwork in a different context — outdoors, among the trees, shaped by light, texture, movement, and time.

As the only museum in the world devoted exclusively to fine metalwork, this next chapter expands more than our campus. This public sculpture walk broadens public access to the field itself: free, year-round, and rooted in Memphis, with world-class metal art at its center.
