The Protectors of the Menominee River are approaching their river trip date. To confirm your participation, kindly send in your registration information using the link below. Your prompt response is appreciated, as it will enable us to finalize arrangements for canoes (if needed, as they are limited in number), food, and transportation between base camp and portages. As the event's host, Menominee County Historical Society collaborates with Protectors of the Menominee River, who manage the event's operations. Any donations contributed will be allocated to Protectors of the Menominee River, supporting the river and the importance of taking care of it, as we and all created beings depend on it, to ensure more events like this in the future.

Just a reminder... We invite you to join the Menominee County Historical Society page to keep up on all things going on with the Society, more detail on events and general information. You do not have to be a member of the society to join this page, though we do hope that you would consider joining the society with the membership. You can see us this Wednesday June 6th from 11:00 to 7:00 at the Anuta Research Center for the open house and find out what being a membership all entails. And you can always inquire at the research center on Wednesdays from 11:00 to 4:00, at our events or by calling and leaving a message at (906) 863-9000 and someone will return your call.
Your support in the Menominee County Historical Society is greatly appreciated by becoming a member as it helps us continue bringing to you our wonderful museum, the Anuta Research Center, Chappee-Weber Learning Center, tours of the North Pier Lighthouse and all things needed to preserve the history and artifacts of Menomonie and it's county.
Thank you.

And we'll kick off this week's shoe exhibit feature with a pair of 1940-50's era purple suede pumps. These shoes belonged to Millie Ewald, the mother of one of our MCHS members. Millie lived not too far down from the museum on 11th Ave. Though it isn't pictured here, the shoes have tiny silver metal pieces nailed to the heel - called heeltaps. This protected wear on the heel, added to traction, and also, would make a fabulous click-clack sound.

It's almost time for our 1st event of the summer!
We hope to see you and your children on
June 3rd, at the Michael J Anuta Research Center for their open House from 11-7 pm.
Our researchers will be on hand to explain what and how they research, how they obtain historical information, preserve it and show you how you can utilize our records for independent research.
They are also available to help assist you research family history, local historical events, landmarks and learn of interesting people of Menominee's past.
They will also be answering questions about information that you may have at home and how you can share it with them to assist in research.
We will have activities for children interested in family and local history.
Find out about the Historical Society, how to become a member and if you have interest in local history and some extra time, find out how to join a great group of volunteers.
We will have items on Menominee history available to purchase and a gift basket to enter and win!

This is HISTORICAL!! 🙏🏽🪶🤞🏽🛶 💦
Contact Cedar Fernandez on FB messenger if you plan to join us to reserve your place in a canoe. Or if you’re bringing your own vessel.
Donations are accepted.
