Art nights like this always remind me how powerful creativity can be. ❤️
One of the residents I work with at the group home started the evening by saying out loud,
“I can’t do any more art. I only have room for the four paintings I already did.”
But little by little, the ideas started flowing.
“What should we do next?”
“What’s next week?”
“I could do a King or Queen chess piece… or an Eagle…”
“Should I do drawing or painting?”
And then, with growing excitement:
“Oh… I should do BOTH.” ❤️
I’m still smiling thinking about how you could literally hear him working through it all out loud. He ended up finishing this dolphin painting that I had started, adding his own watercolor background and creative touches that made it completely his own.
Watching someone’s confidence, imagination, and excitement grow in real time is one of the most rewarding parts of what I do. Sometimes art isn’t just about creating a painting… it’s about rediscovering possibility again.
