🚓🔥 Thank You to the Veterans & First Responders Foundation! 🔥🚒

The Mentor Police Department would like to extend our sincere thanks to the Veterans & First Responders Foundation (VFR) for their generous donation of a heat-sensing thermal imaging device to both the Mentor Police Department and the Mentor Fire Department.

This advanced tool can detect heat signatures in low-visibility conditions, helping locate people or items at night — an incredible resource that enhances safety for both our first responders and the community we serve.

VFR President David Knott and Chief Operating Officer David Kern presented the devices to Police Chief Kenneth Gunsch and Fire Chief Ron Zak.

The Veterans & First Responders Foundation is dedicated to supporting Veterans, Military Members, First Responders, K-9s, and their families through programs and resources focused on wellness, connection, and healing.

Learn more about their mission at www.vfrfoundation.org

We truly appreciate their partnership and commitment to those who serve. 💙❤️

On Saturday, August 16th, Members of the Mentor Fire Department are participating in the 2025 Cleveland Plane Pull benefiting the Special Olympics of Ohio!

The Cleveland Plane Pull is not your average fundraiser—it's a high-energy, adrenaline-pumping challenge where teams of 15-20 people compete to pull a United Airlines Boeing 737, weighing up to 150,000 lbs, 12 feet across the tarmac in the fastest time. It’s a test of strength, teamwork, and determination—all in support of Special Olympics Ohio.

The Event is open to the public and runs from 9am to 2pm at the IX center and includes Food trucks, Musical entertainment, and family friendly activities.
