Don't forget to see our traveling display "Groundbreaking Black Hoosiers" from the Indiana Historical Society. You can visit the display until August 31st.

Many of the interviewees of our oral history project had fond memories of Demmon's store. Here's a photo of the storefront in the 1900's.

The Faith Room at the Merrillville-Ross Township Historical Society museum was set up to pay tribute to the many congregations within the area. Historical items from the Merrillville Methodist Church, St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, and St. Sava Serbian Orthodox Church are featured. The pulpit from the old Merrillville Methodist Church and a pew from the original St. Peter & Paul Church are just two of the interesting items on display. Alice Smedsted is standing with a bible given to her relative many years ago.

Our Merrillville Ross Township Memories program is finishing up! Rick Jolliff provided some great insight of growing up in Merrillville and afterward Roy Foreman showed him a way we will integrate our videos into the museum experience. Merrillville High School 1963! As we continue on with our Merrillville Ross Township Memories Oral History Project we have interviewed many residents who remember the growing pains and additions the school experienced in the 60s.

At the end of 2022 we got the chance to conduct more interviews for our Merrillville Ross Township Memories project. Our last interview was a 3 for 1 with retired Merrillville Police officers.
