I can’t believe that August is almost here, school will be back in session, I have seen Halloween decorations in the store, and pumpkins are cropping up everywhere. Let the countdown to autumn begin. I am definitely ready for cooler weather and falling leaves. Every year it comes in with a gentle breath of wind and leaves again just as we begin to settle into a familiar groove.

Even if fall is not your favorite season, you have to admit that the colors are amazing. I am in awe of this transformation which is more evident than in the trees. One day the trees are green and in full bloom and the next they have begun turning to a golden brown or a deep, rapturous red. It takes my breath away. I love that it's a sign that cooler weather is on its way. ♥

what is your favourite place to get away from the busyness of life? Or what place would you like to get away to have some TLC?

This has been such a crazy and stressful week. It seems like everything hit all at once. You know what they say sometimes when it rains it pours. I’m trying really hard to keep my head up and have a positive attitude because in reality I don’t have any control over these circumstances. A couple of weeks ago the Hubby, our son and I went up north to get away from the heat. We stayed in a really adorable cabin that was a walk away from the forest. It was so nice to unwind and relax. Getting away and being amongst nature is one of my favorite places to be. I am looking forward to getting away again very soon. In the meantime I can unwind and get lost in some of Thoreau‘s beautiful writing.

What was the last book that you absolutely enjoyed reading?

I just can’t say enough wonderful things about this amazing book by
Once you start reading Remarkably Bright Creatures you not be able to put down. Those are the best books. One of the characters is narrated by an Octopus, yes an 🐙 . He’s one of the characters who has his own point of view and who you will immediately fall in love with. It is a story about a woman who’s name is Tova, who’s son mysteriously vanishes on a boat. Soon after her husband dies as well. She works at an aquarium to keep busy every night and that’s how she ends up befriending Marcellus the octopus. They form a brilliant friendship that changes their lives forever. I also listened to this book and the narrators were fantastic. Overall I’d recommend this to anyone who reads contemporary books especially to anyone who loves or wants to learn more about ocean creatures and octopuses. It is just the best heartwarming funny clever creative story that you will most definitely love.

Ever since I was a little kid, I often wondered what I could do to impact the lives of others. I never knew what it would be. But I always had the internal desire to motivate and inspire. I have no idea where it came from. Every day we have opportunities to change the world for others. Here are 7 ways we can do this:

1. Give More
Give more of your time, money and resources to help others.

2. Smile More
A genuine smile is contagious. A smile is a universal language that can literally change someone's day.

3. Help Others
Helping others gives us a sense of connectedness, happiness, fulfillment and meaning.

4. Send A Thank You Note
This is one of my favorite ways to demonstrate sincere gratitude for those people who touch your heart.

5. Foster
Consider fostering a child in the Foster Care system. You will change the world for that one child.

6. Adopt
Adopt a pet. There are thousands of wonderful pets in shelters. Change the world for one of them.

7. Be kind
Be aware of your words and actions in responding to others. Respond with kindness always.

Have you read the Little House on the Prairie books or watched the television show?

The Hubby and I have pretty much decided to swear off most of the modern TV shows. We have been really enjoying watching The Little House on the Prairie and the Waltons TV shows. They are filled with so many great lessons. when you finish watching an episode it leaves you with a good feeling in your heart. You don’t have to worry about watching crazy sexual things or have your eyes assaulted by extreme violence or other weird scenes LoL. Even the shows that are rated TV 14 might as well be rated M.
if you are looking for a TV show that will lift your spirits and not worry about something inappropriate happening while you’re watching it with your kids or friends or loved ones then these are the shows for you. They are both available through Amazon. You can get them free with advertisements. They are so great. We try to watch at least one episode every couple of days before we go to bed. It’s become a little ritual. And oh my goodness the seasons they last a very long time there is like 24 episodes in one season. It’s awesome. They will keep us busy for a very long time. I’m so glad about that.

You know those days when you have so much to do, but you would rather be reading instead? lol That's my day today. What are you doing today that you would rather be reading instead?

I just finished The Silent Patient. It is by far the best book I've read this year. I couldn't put it down. It had me on the edge of my seat with its twists and turns. You don't know what is really happening until the very end. And boy will this book stay with you for a long time. My brain felt completely satisfied. I literally devoured it. LOL Now what to read next?

Have you read any of these banned books?

There is a very long list of books that have at some time or another for many different reasons been on the Banned Books list.
Last year I read 1984, Fahrenheit 451 and A Brave New World. I can see why these books were on the banned list. They completely predicted the future which is Now. Everything that is written in these books is coming to fruition. It's so true. I don't agree that books should be on a banned list. The public can decide whether or not they would like to read them. I am so thankful that we live in a country where freedom of speech is still a law. I pray that this will never change. In the meantime I encourage you to read some of these books if you have not read them, They are all fascinating and thought provoking.

What is something that you just started doing? A hobby or a group? etc...

I am looking forward to doing Zumba 3x a week. I will really try to stick with it. I don't enjoy working out but I do enjoy dancing. ♥
The beauty of new beginnings is an opportunity to start something new. Every morning is a new beginning. Every time the hour hand moves, it’s a new beginning. Every breath is a chance to begin again.
I love beginnings. There is nothing better than cracking the spine on a brand new book (figuratively if you read digital books) and reading those first few lines of prose. Most authors labour over those first few sentences, determined to get them right. They have to set the tone for the book, they need to hook the reader, they need to introduce a whole new world and most importantly, they are sometimes the first words someone will ever read of your work and it will be the very first impression they have of you. You don’t get to make a second first impression, so you want it to count. Life is an amazing Journey.

The gift of friendship is one that I value so much. I can count my truest friends on one hand. Even if you have just one really good friend make sure that he or she is cherished dearly. This past year has brought so many difficulties, I’m so thankful for my dear friends who walked alongside and encouraged me. In this world were so much seems uncertain the gift of friendship is something that we should value.

Dog: The best friend you will ever have. A loyal, loving companion that cares for you more than himself. A special creature whose time in your heart will far outnumber its days on earth.

What is your favorite thing or something adorable that your dog does?
My life is made richer and purposely because of my dogs. I love coming home and being greeted by 4 Furbabies who are beside themselves with joy at my arrival. lol
My son will sometimes say "You love them more than us" lol He is kidding of course but I do have to say that it is way easier to love dogs than some people. They are always so happy to see you. they never talk back, well 1 of them does lol They love you no matter what. They are always there to give you comfort and make you laugh. My life would not be as great as it is, if I didn't have dogs. ♥
There are so many wonderful dogs at your local animal shelter. If you are ever looking to adopt one be sure to adopt one from there. They will be forever grateful to you for rescuing them. ♥

THE SWEET, SIMPLE THINGS MATTER THE MOST.
Not the noise that steals our attention away. Not the shiny, fancy things. The real, everyday things. Ones we might easily overlook. Today I'm enjoying going to Friends For Life and seeing wonderful dogs going to their forever home. Than coming home after a busy day and taking a nap with my 4 dogs lol I’m also so grateful for time alone with the hubby 🤗🐶💕
