Mesopotamia Memorial & Historical

Mesopotamia Memorial & Historical This group is dedicated to preserving our history.

1846-The land was donated by Timothy Cox (He was a rugged old settler who loved to wear a silk hat, swallow-tail coat and carry a gold-headed cane.)He lived in the Charles Holcomb house now owned by Jesse Bell. The spiritualist church was a flourishing group who erected the pulpit at the west end and a choir loft in the east.
1873-The Spiritualists gave up the church to the Universalists who in 187

3 sold it for $100 to the town as a Townhouse.Later it was a skating rink, then a feed store and now the Grange.Mesopotamia Memorial & Historical Society made it their museum.

If you wish to donate any pies please contact Marie Byler at 440-321-9981 or text Debby Miller at 440-693-4467. Thank you!!

A rainy day is a great time to transcribe!
You'll see by Wednesday Carlos is done with the rain :)

And then for the first time we see Carlos miss days of journaling! Read to see why.

Its great to see who he mentions. He and his neighbors sre helping and working together.

I left a cliff hanger for the last date. I wonder if Mary's family still has all of Carlos' letters to her. He specifically built the addition on the house for his "city" girl but what happened next?

If any ADULTS are interested, a few of us are meeting at the Fire Station at 9:30am on Saturday (17th) to head over to spray the cemetary stones with a special solution made for that purpose. This allows the stone to slowly be cleaned and many of the stones will then come back to their original color and become readable again.

Each adult must bring their own w**d sprayer. We have the solution (Thank you to the Mespo Trustees) and will mix it up on site. We will spray every old stone and any stones with problem spots. The goal is to FINISH the entire cemetery as throughly and quickly as we can.

Below is how wonderful this product works. (Clark Family Cemetery shown)

I will also be replacing any old plaques or bent stakes to get the cemetery ready for Memorial Day.
