The Whitewater Canal Scenic Byway is known for our spur of the moment road trips. Today, on this beautiful day, we drove to the west side of the state to see Cadurac Falls. Also, in our mission to see every town in Indiana, we managed to visit around eleven new towns. It was nice to just get out.

Governor Mike Braun has appointed Captain Anthony M. Scott to serve as the 21st Superintendent of the Indiana State Police.

Superintendent Scott was born and raised in Rush County, Indiana. After graduating from Rushville High School in 1992, he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting from Cumberland College and was later accepted into the 54th Indiana State Police Recruit School in July 1996. Upon graduation, he was appointed as a Trooper, assigned to the Versailles Post on December 15, 1996.

Scott has served 28 years with the Indiana State Police and has held multiple supervisory roles during that time. He has served as the Versailles District Investigations Commander (First Sergeant), Versailles District Commander (Lieutenant) and most recently as the Area IV Commander at the rank of Captain.

In June of 2019, Scott completed the 276th Session of the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia which offers more than two months of advanced communication, leadership, and fitness training for selected officers having proven records as professionals within their agency.

“I am truly honored to have the opportunity to lead the outstanding men and women of the Indiana State Police and look forward to working with Governor Braun on his public safety initiatives”, said Scott.

Superintendent Scott resides in Decatur County with his family.

The Whitewater Canal Scenic Byway has had an eventful year, to say the least. We had events that were once in a lifetime. We had ones that will never be again. We said goodbye to loved ones and hello's to new friends. We worked hard to build a great relationship with many organizations in the area. We have managed to be a huge part of future endeavors in the area. 2024 has been happy, sad, scary, and yet through it all we have finished on a high note. With this note, we wish you all the very best in 2025. For those who have gone ahead of us in 2024, may we never forget your drive and desire to push us to be better.

The Whitewater Canal Scenic Byway is still seeking help from partners to raise the Historic Depot. The Depot will be raised and repaired to stop this Historic structure from flooding. This building is a true gem to the area. The Depot is used for many events, including weddings, educational programs, birthdays, family reunions, and so much more. Simply scan the QR code and it will transfer you to a place where you can become a partner in this endeavor. We will greatly appreciate any help we can get. The sketches show the future site as it will stand after the necessary repairs are completed. The donations made are 100 % tax deductible and will be a great help to our community.
