CALL FOR ARTISTS! Galerie Westerhoff invites you to participate in its new, unique show, THE WORLD OF ANIME ART! Anime is a style of art that originated in Japan, but has now adopted a global identity, covering a wide range of styles. We are accepting 2D animation drawings ( hand or computer-drawn), 2D and 3D characters, cartoons, and other imaginative fantasy character drawings and paintings. Last date of submission is April 5, 2024. Follow the link to register.

It’s always a great moment when our patrons appreciate our efforts and show their generosity. Friends of Metuchen Arts and Metuchen Arts Council are grateful to receive the annual donation of $7500 from Gary and Helga Westerhoff! Helga created her dream project in Metuchen 25 years ago- Westerhoff School of Music and Art. Today, they not only nurture talent in their school and gallery, but also support our efforts to nurture art and the artists in the community. We thank them for their continued support. In the picture are board members of Friends of Metuchen Arts and members of Metuchen Arts Council, along with Helga and Gary Westerhoff and the Westerhoff school Director , David Iscowitz.

As a prelude to the upcoming Jazz Festival in Metuchen, Galerie Westerhoff and Friends of Metuchen Arts are delighted to bring to you DECISIVE MOMENTS IN JAZZ, a Photo Exhibit of jazz icons by the renowned Jazz photographer, Enid Farber.

How Enid describes two of her many photographs that will be on display at this exhibit...
"These two photos are representative of the upcoming exhibit featuring a broad spectrum of my work, from the beginning of my 45 year journey in jazz photography, to present.. As for the technical aspects, one image (Sarah Vaughan) is a monochromatic, sepia-toned print from a 35mm film camera. The other (Samara Joy) is a vivid color image from a mirrorless digital camera. But more importantly, the juxtaposition of the legend (Sarah) who is no longer with us, next to the young mega talented, double 2022 Grammy winner (Samara), whose meteoric trajectory began with winning the 2019 Sarah Vaughn International Singing Competition, right here in the Garden State! I chose these two photos with none of that in mind, but because I love them. There is more of that kismet, coincidence, juxtaposition, magic and majesty in the somewhat random selection of photos that will be included in the exhibition and I look forward to sharing those with you!"
