is getting ready to take the Art Deco District by surprise, bringing a showcase of private exhibits fromflourishing contemporary artists. Centrally located in the Art Deco District in a chic pavilion, BURST Project will be running during Art Basel week in its innovative presentation of paintings, surreal pop art, sculptures, street art, mixed media, photography, and short independent films. In its first-ever production, BURST Project will introduce 12 rising artists with exceptional talent, as well as galleries from around the world that support emerging artists. A special VIP artist will be the guest of honor, yet to be announced. In addition, Burst will be featuring art installations, performances, film, music, refreshing new tendencies, and other cultural exhibits. “This will be an art fair like no other seen before, and one long remembered,” says BURST Project Founder Gabriel Sanchez Vegas. The location is ideal for any cultural event, especially the expansive outdoor gardens, which are available for sculptures, art installations, performance art, and any media suitable for open spaces. BURST coordinators welcome all proposals for the use of the outdoor gardens. LA PANDILLA.
With leftover paints and plenty of will to create, La Pandilla is born. An artistic collective, the gang is comprised of puertoricans Alexis Diaz and Juan Fernandez, both alumni of the Escuela Central de Artes Visuales of Puerto Rico.
These young individuals have adopted the mission of rescuing, with their murals, vacant residential buildings whose deterioration affects the spirit of their country’s most transited streets. They are known for their fish with surreal influence, for the re-signification of zoo animals with human elements, for the creation of their own fauna. In each of their works, they develop an extraordinary fusion of techniques: nailism, lineage and stains. In this form, black and white are predominant colors in their pieces.
Despite the fact that they walked different paths, the will to create brought them together. It is then when they took the initiative to revive the streets of their neighborhood (SANTURCE) with art. Since their first drawing together, the duo complemented each other with Juan’s curved trace and Alexis lineal one.
In this sense, their desire to create is not limited to the geographic space by which they are surrounded. These young talented individuals' mission is to project their expression in other contexts; travel so that their form of creating art trots throughout the world.
