Recently, Mr. Joseph Weinkle visited JMOF-FIU all the way from Pittsburgh along with his grandson, Akiva, to celebrate his high school graduation. They came to see one of our most popular and cherished items in our permanent collection, the Weinkle Family Sefer Torah. So much of the JMOF-FIU collection is made up of family heirlooms, photographs, and artifacts, so we always welcome guests who have a relation to the objects we have on view. Thanks to the Weinkles for visiting!

Established by the Presidential proclamation in 2006, and renewed every year since, JAHM provides an opportunity for all Americans to celebrate and draw inspiration from the contributions that Jewish Americans have made to the fabric of our nation’s history and culture.

Join us on April 8th for an exhibition opening and panel discussion surrounding the 40th anniversary of Operation Moses, a historic mission to covertly rescue members of the Ethiopian Jewish community to begin a new life in Israel.

“Operation Moses: The 40th Anniversary of the Israeli Rescue of the Ethiopian Jews” will be discussed by individuals who were part of or chronicled the operation, a historic mission to covertly rescue members of this ancient community to begin a new life in Israel.
