Public art transforms the way we experience a city.

LnS Gallery is proud to share a video overview of Alexandre Arrechea’s newest public art commission, ‘Tampa Theatre’ (2026), permanently installed at Herman Massey Park in Tampa, Florida. Inspired by the historic Tampa Theater during its centennial year, the sculpture reflects Arrechea’s continued exploration of architecture as a living symbol of collective memory, identity, and civic imagination.

In this video, Arrechea offers personal insight into the conception of the project and the evolving role of public art within urban space.

Installation shots from “Exile as Transformation: The Body in Cuban Abstraction in the Work of Cárdenas, Fernández and Soriano” — an exhibition tracing how exile reshaped the visual language of three Cuban artists through sculpture and painting.

From the totemic forms of Agustín Cárdenas, to the charged corporeality of Agustín Fernández, to the luminous spiritual expanses of Rafael Soriano, the exhibition considers abstraction as both dissolution and emergence: a means of transforming displacement into new forms of emotive and spiritual expression.

Join us Friday, May 1 from 6-9pm for a First Friday Reception celebrating the opening of 𝑬𝒙𝒊𝒍𝒆 𝒂𝒔 𝑻𝒓𝒂𝒏𝒔𝒇𝒐𝒓𝒎𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏: 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑩𝒐𝒅𝒚 𝒊𝒏 𝑪𝒖𝒃𝒂𝒏𝑨𝒃𝒔𝒕𝒓𝒂𝒄𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝒊𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑾𝒐𝒓𝒌 𝒐𝒇 𝑪á𝒓𝒅𝒆𝒏𝒂𝒔, 𝑭𝒆𝒓𝒏á𝒏𝒅𝒆𝒛 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑺𝒐𝒓𝒊𝒂𝒏𝒐 and the launch of the corresponding digital catalogue with an essay by Dr. Alejandro Anreus, Ph.D.

This exhibition brings together three Cuban artists—𝗔𝗴𝘂𝘀𝘁í𝗻 𝗖á𝗿𝗱𝗲𝗻𝗮𝘀, 𝗔𝗴𝘂𝘀𝘁í𝗻 𝗙𝗲𝗿𝗻á𝗻𝗱𝗲𝘇, and 𝗥𝗮𝗳𝗮𝗲𝗹 𝗦𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗻𝗼—whose lives and practices were profoundly shaped by exile. Through sculpture and painting, the exhibition traces how exile reshaped their visual vocabularies—from Cárdenas’ totemic forms, to Fernández’s charged, corporeal surfaces, to Soriano’s luminous, spiritual expanses.

Together, their works offer a powerful meditation on estrangement and resilience, revealing how the rupture of exile can give rise to new forms of emotive visual expression.

We look forward to welcoming you!

Throwback Thursday but keepin’ it recent! ⏳

Congratulations to Alexandre Arrechea on his recently inaugurated sculpture, 𝑻𝒂𝒎𝒑𝒂 𝑻𝒉𝒆𝒂𝒕𝒓𝒆 – a center piece to Herman Massey Park in Tampa, Florida that reopened to the public this past Tuesday, April 21.

True to the artist’s practice, Arrechea gives a nod to the historic Tampa Theatre adjacent to the park, celebrating its centennial year. Incorporating aspects of weather and time of day, the artist invites us to contemplate how these minor, inevitable shifts affect our experiences both within, and as part of a community.

Bravo, Maestro! Special thanks to Melissa Davies and the City of Tampa for the opportunity, and the hospitality.

Visit 𝑻𝒂𝒎𝒑𝒂 𝑻𝒉𝒆𝒂𝒕𝒓𝒆 now on view at Herman Massey Park, Tampa, FL.

Join represented artist 𝐉𝐞𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐟𝐞𝐫 𝐁𝐚𝐬𝐢𝐥𝐞 as she collaborates with the Museum of Art and Design (MOAD, ) at MDC to host a collography workshop in conjunction with the institution’s current exhibition, Belkis Ayón and Carlos Alfonzo: Odyssey. Collography, a unique style of printmaking that differs from traditional relief, was the primary medium used by late artist Belkis Ayón. Elusive to many, Basile invites us to peel back the curtain.

A Manhasset native, Basile () lives and works in Miami, Florida, and brings over 20 years of experience as a painter, printmaker, and educator. Her practice, grounded in an ongoing engagement with the environment and the material language of printmaking, reflects a sensitivity to place, process, and transformation. In this workshop, Basile extends that approach to participants, guiding them through a tactile and meditative exploration of collography that emphasizes both experimentation and personal expression.

Space is limited! If you wish to attend please RSVP using the link in bio. 🔗

Drawing on the concept of “Améfrica,” articulated by Afro-Brazilian thinker Lélia Gonzalez, the exhibition traces cultural, historical, and spiritual resonances that connect Africa and the Americas across the Atlantic. Mansa’s work enters this powerful dialogue through its evocation of Kalunga—the cosmic and ancestral waters that bind memory, migration, and diasporic identity.

On view February 27, 2026 - January 10, 2027.
