With deep sorrow we bid farewell to Julio Le Parc (1928–2026) one of the defining artists of the twentieth century and a spirit of unrelenting conscience.

A founding member of G.R.A.V. and recipient of the Grand Prize for Painting at the 33rd Venice Biennale (1966), Le Parc dedicated his life to transforming the relationship between art and the viewer

We were honored to present his work in Caracas at Galería Durbán in 1979 — Julio Le Parc / Modulaciones — presenting a constellation of works with a catalogue text by Antonio Bonet Correa. The exhibition traveled to Barquisimeto and Maracaibo, the artist present at both inaugurations. An exhibition that still resonates in our memory and in the history of this gallery.

We extend our most heartfelt condolences to his family, his companions, and all those who had the privilege of knowing him and we carry with us the certainty that his work, luminous and restless, will continue to move through the world long after us.

We are proud to celebrate a remarkable honor bestowed upon César Paternosto.

This week, the National University of La Plata awarded him the title of Doctor Honoris Causa in a public ceremony held at the Faculty of Arts auditorium.
This distinction holds special meaning: although his extraordinary career has unfolded largely abroad, his entire academic formation took place at UNLP. From his early studies to his training in fine arts and law, the university played a pivotal role in shaping his path.

His time at the Faculty of Arts proved especially influential, as did his exposure to the Museum of Natural Sciences (now the La Plata Museum), whose pre-Hispanic collections, ceramics, and particularly textile art have deeply informed his work since the 1960s.

At Durban Segnini Gallery, we are honored to represent César Paternosto and to witness this well-deserved recognition.

Join us for the Closing Cocktail of Alessandro Balteo-Yazbeck’s first solo exhibition with the gallery

Saturday, March 21, 5–8 PM

This closing event marks the final opportunity to experience an exhibition that revisits pivotal works originally conceived in Caracas three decades ago. Re-staged for today’s global moment, the exhibition traces the artist’s early investigations into systems, displacement, and the complex networks that shape our social and political realities.

Guests will also have the chance to pick up the exhibition catalogue and experience the final installation view of Plank Board Improvisation IUESAPAR. The work reflects Balteo-Yazbeck’s early cartographic explorations, first developed during his studies at the Instituto Universitario de Artes Plásticas Armando Reverón in Caracas.

At the third Bienal Nacional de Arte de Guayana in Ciudad Bolívar (1994-5), the diagrams took on a sculptural form through aluminum strips—a material tied to the region’s extractive industries and Venezuela’s modernizing aspirations. Installed in the house where the 1819-1821 Congreso de Angostura had convened under Simón Bolívar’s leadership to draft the country’s first constitution, Balteo-Yazbeck’s work drew these industrial ambitions into dialogue with the foundational narratives of the republic. The installation thus suggested that such myths of progress rang hollow against the turbulent realities of the 1990s.

We are happy to congratulate F***y Sanín on the acquisition of two of her works by the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, New York, as part of the museum’s 2025 acquisitions.

In 2025, the Guggenheim New York acquired 39 works by 31 artists, spanning from 1963 to the present. Among the highlights are two works by Colombian F***y Sanín, whose more than five-decade practice rigorously explores the relationships between symmetry, color, and geometry, beginning with her earliest experiments.

For Durban Segnini Gallery, this recognition is especially meaningful given our long-standing relationship with F***y Sanín, closely connected to the vision and dedication of our founder, Cesar Segnini, whose sustained commitment to her work has been fundamental to its continued visibility and appreciation. We are honored to have accompanied F***y throughout this journey and to celebrate this important milestone.
