For over 30 years, Gary Nader has been regarded as one of the most entrepreneurial and successful gallery in the world. From his early career as the Director of Nader Gallery of Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic in 1981 to his move to the United States to set up a gallery specializing in Latin American Art in Miami in 1985, Gary Nader has been determined not only to establish himself as an

expert on Latin American Art, but to disseminate information about this recognized and exciting area of art in order to expand the horizons of his artists and collectors. To do this, Nader has established a number of significant art projects and publications, and he is still exploring other possibilities to enhance his profile and that of the art he believes so strongly in supporting. The opening of Gary Nader Fine Art in Coral Gables in 1992 was another step in expanding his role beyond that of a mere gallery director interested in the commercial sale of art.

Happy 81st Birthday to Bernar Venet

Born 20 April 1941, Bernar Venet is a French Conceptual artist best known for his versatility in multiple mediums, including painting, drawing, sculpture, installation, stage design, and musical composition.

Inspired by the works of Minimalist sculptors, Venet began to produce wall-mounted and freestanding metal sculptures. His torch-cut steel plates and beams resembling scribbles, lines, and arcs are among the best known.

Venet says that his sculptures are about “how metal resists. They are a test of strength—a battle between myself and the piece of metal.”

Venet’s works are held in the collections of The Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Art Institute of Chicago, Fotomuseum Winterthur in Switzerland, and the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C., among others.

Botero Immersed, presented by the Nader Museum, celebrates Fernando Botero’s prolific career and his 90th birthday celebration.

Fernando Botero was born on April 19, 1932, in Medellín, Antioquia, and this year marks the 90th anniversary of a life dedicated to painting, sculpture, and drawing. The master is one of the most recognized Colombian artists globally and the most successful living artist with an oeuvre spanning over seventy years.
