Dr. G. Marvin Beeman, DVM, MFH Arapahoe Hunt
April 13, 1933 - June 14, 2026

It is with great sadness that the MFHA announces the passing of its beloved and respected Dr. Marvin Beeman. Dr. Beeman was President of this Association from 2008 to 2011. He served for many years and up to the present as Chairman of the Veterinary Committee. As such he was the chief proponent of the award-winning MFHA funded research concerning leishmania and tick-borne diseases that has had a profound effect on hound as well as human health.

We send our deepest sympathy to his cherished wife, Eunice. We will miss Marvin's strong and quiet leadership that led us to achievements beyond our imagination. Details to follow on how Dr. Beeman’s life will be celebrated.

What a fabulous reception we held yesterday at Morven Park honoring George Washington’s Huntsman Billy Lee.

The galleries at the Davis Mansion at Morven Park are open today. Stop by the Huntsman’s Hall of Fame to see the portrait of Billy Lee. Visit the main gallery to see Sue Kelleher’s art exhibit. Enjoy a slide show on George Washington in the ballroom.

Commemorative professional prints available for sale at the Mansion, the Museum booth at the Virginia Hound Show and at our Middleburg branch on Washington Street in Middleburg.

Please join us for our annual Signature Spring Event at Leesburg’s Morven Park as we celebrate the 250thAnniversary of Independence.

We will be honoring George Washington, the “Father of the American Foxhound” and William “Billy” Lee who was Washington’s huntsman, valet and secretary for 20 years, including during the American Revolutionary War.

This ceremony, a highlight of the Memorial Day Weekend, in conjunction with the Virginia Hound Show, will take place on Saturday, May 23 at 4:00 pm in the Ballroom at Morven Park’s Davis Mansion.

An Art Exhibition and Sale featuring renowned sporting artist Susan Kelleher and a selection of sporting bronze sculptures will be featured.
