We are pleased to announce Jim Freeman has a new book out as shown below. He will be in attendance at our 150th Anniversary Celebration, although won't be able to stay long due to a prior commitment. He will be there from 2:00 - 2:30 to answer questions and autograph books, which will sell for $10.00 each. We hope you join us for an enjoyable afternoon.
About the author:
J. Lee “Jim” Freeman is a seasoned writer and storyteller with a diverse background in journalism, military service, and conservation. A graduate of the Ohio University E.W. Scripps School of Journalism and the U.S. Army Sergeants Major Academy, Jim spent over three decades crafting news articles and columns for the former Ohio Valley Publishing Company.
His experiences as a sergeant major in the U.S. Army Reserve, including a year of service in Iraq as an engineer platoon sergeant, have shaped his understanding of human resilience and the power of storytelling.
As a conservationist, Jim works with local government and private landowners to protect soil and water resources. His passion for history, trivia, and the outdoors is reflected in his writing.
Jim draws inspiration from a wide range of authors including Louis L’Amour, Robert Heinlein, Allan W. Eckert, and J.R.R. Tolkien. His goal is to tell stories that are both engaging and thought-provoking.
His first novel, Northern Lights – Ghost of Beaver Island was selected as Winner: 2025 Literary Global Independent Author Awards – Faction – Fiction Based on Fact; Finalist – Historical-Fiction, Debut-Fiction, while his second novel, Starlight Sonata – Annabelle of Beaver Island was selected as Winner: 2025 Literary Global Independent Author Awards – Fiction-Midwest; First Finalist – Historical-Fiction, Cross Genre.
