‼️TOMORROW‼️The Ole West Gunfighters are coming to the Bush Family Home for reenactments of the Wild West! They are a part of our Cowboy Summer Camp from 9 AM-12 PM but will be at the site until 3 PM for the public to enjoy!

Another day of summer camp in the books! Today, we made horse art and went through the Bush Home to look at all of the "cowboy" things for inspiration! We painted horses and made some "Old Western" knickknacks out of clay! Tomorrow is our Wild West Reenactors! Remember, from 1pm-3pm, you can catch them in action!

First day of summer camp was a hit! We learned all about what horses eat, how to care for and clean them, how to tie ropes, how to lasso, and made some crafts with Circle H Haven! We will be working with them again tomorrow for some horse art! There will be a few more posts with pictures just so that parents can get pictures of their kiddos!

When you visit the Bush Family Home State Historic Site, don't forget to write in our 9/11 journal your memory of where you were and what you felt on that fateful day 25 years ago. Here is what one person wrote:
"I was active duty U.S. Army stationed at Ft. Hood, TX. I was alerted to full security status and spent the next few days in full battle uniform and guarding the base and such. 9/11 changed the mentality of our military pledge of 'I will protect against all enemies, both foreign and domestic.' We also realized the attack could happen on American soil."

Yesterday, we participated in Family Friday at the Museum of the Southwest, where we celebrated George H. W. Bush's 102nd birthday with patriotic birthday decorations since his birthday was just one day away from our Blast From the American Past (Flag Day) event! And today, we had such a great time with our awesome community who came to learn all about the history of our country's flag and make your own state or American Flag, plus other fun activities! We hope you took a tour all around Midland for all the festivities today, and we'll see you right here for American250 STEM Day on June 27th!

‼️TODAY‼️ We’re ready for our Flag Day celebration in connection with Midland Celebrates’ History Day event!

Our event is from 10 AM-3PM, with activities like this loop flag project and others available throughout the day. To participate all you need to do is show up (street parking and church parking lot is available) and add a loop and/or star to the flag! If you need help just ask for assistance. You can also design your own flag at a separate table and other things while learning about our nation’s flag!

Don’t forget, we have a yard sale of all “old logo” items in the court yard of our Visitors Center across the street from the house. EVERYTHING IS DISCOUNTED!!!
