Welcome to our new series, Guess Before You Google! 🕵️

As the celebration of America 250 approaches the end of 2026, we’ll be posting questions about Milford’s past. Some will be easy and some will stump even our longtime residents. Every building on Main Street has a story, and on October 24 you can enjoy a few of them with chocolate in hand.

The Eastside Chocolate Walk is happening Saturday, October 24, from 11am to 3:30pm in downtown Milford. You'll stroll our historic downtown and pick up treats at more than 30 local stops, many tucked inside buildings that have watched over Milford for generations.

When you buy your ticket with code PROMONT, you get $1 off, and the Eastside Business Alliance sends $5 to the Greater Milford Area Historical Society. That helps us keep preserving and sharing the stories behind the places you love.

Are you the first on your street to hang the wreath? Do you own more garland than you'd care to admit? Does the sight of a perfectly placed bow make your heart sing? Then Promont needs you!

We're looking for cheerful volunteers to help deck the halls of our 1865 Italianate mansion for the holiday season. Imagine twinkling lights in those grand windows, fresh greenery on the mantels, and festive touches in every room, all brought to life by people who simply love to decorate.

The best part? You can come on your own schedule. Decorating will take place anytime between November 7 and November 25, so whether you have a free morning, a quiet afternoon, or just an hour here and there, we'd love your help. Bring a friend, bring your favorite holiday playlist, and bring your creative spark. We have plenty of beautiful decorations to choose from or you can bring your own!

Thank you to our amazing Executive Director, Amy Pritts, as well as her small team of Deb Patek and Julie Rentz, for pulling off this event which is always so well received. Did you know it's the largest fundraiser for our historical society, keeping the lights on at Promont Museum and funding all of the historical activities that happen there.

Thank you to every volunteer who was there on the day. And thank you for TruCraft Roofing - Commercial for all of their set up help. And to Mark Birkle of Wrapped in Light Photography for recording the entire day for posterity.

Overheard at today’s Art Affaire - Milford OH: “There are so many booths of cool stuff!”, “This slushie is delicious, where’d you get it?” (The Governor), “I told you there would be Alpacas!”, “I’ve never seen glass earrings like these!”, “How many blocks long is this thing?” (3 blocks, over 100 booths), “Have you seen the marble run game?” (created by 19 North Interiors), “Dad, look at that lady eating those chips!”, “I’m going to go listen to the band”, “I picked up the neatest slate oil lamps”, “Let me get just one more slice” (at Padrino Italian), “What a beautiful day!”, “Did you see the mugs back there, that one could be perfect!”, “When is Porchfest?” (it’s Oct 17 by Old Milford Porchfest), “I’m going into that shop, it’s open and I’ve been wanting to stop in”, “Thank you for your service”, “We’re in Milford Town at this festival…”, “Where’d you get the inspiration for this piece?”

Just a sample of what we heard as we browsed, shopped, connected with friends and neighbors, and even had a drink and a few bites to eat at Art Affaire. Kudos to the team that put this on, part of Greater Milford Area Historical Society.
