'Maiden Tall Ship, Sausalito'
Plein air transparent loose watercolor sketch. 16" x 20"
It was so hot, and we sat in the weeds, my little dog and I, and the air smelled deliciously fishy. I think I'll go back, tomorrow! May I post another?
I was watching them build this ship, in this HUGE hangar over there in Sausalito, for the past 2 years!
I had no idea they'd finished it and moored it! They haven't fully rigged it or sailed it, yet. The link (below) shows about how it looked, last time I saw it. I was fully prepared to paint the shipbuilding, in progress!
They were actually testing the rigging, pulling the sail up and down. So this was a real treat!
Prairie Sue was ecstatic to be out, and sniffing, and rolling in the grass, after so many cold days, and rain, and hours in the car. A new leash on life!
A Great Blue Heron swooped down, and then, posed, perfectly still, in the rocks and shallows, about 12 feet away. After much patience, he caught a fish. So I do hope to go back, tomorrow, and take my easel.
Hope you're having a good night/day.
