The West Elmore County Historical Society

The primary purpose of the Society is the promotion, education and the preservation of historical structures and landmarks in the West Elmore county area, to include Millbrook, Robinson Springs and Coosada, Elmore, Spiegner, Deatsville, Holtville, Slapout, and all areas west of Calloway creek.. The West Elmore County Historical Society was organized in 1

991 in an effort to preserve a local historical structures. The house was built of logs and was later sold, dismantled and moved to north Alabama. Before this transaction was finalized a local contractor purchased the home, the house was renovated and sold. The society has a collection of histories about local communities, churches, and landmarks. These histories were compiled in folders and were placed in the Millbrook public library. They have since been removed to update. WECHS was also instrumental in saving the Springs at Robinson Springs from destruction, the creation of the new Park and the placement of the Historic marker in the Park. Currently WECHS is trying to save the Wm. Ziegler house built around 1820.
