All about Coxswain Vincent D. Jacques from West Millbury.

The West Millbury Playground is named Jacques Park after Coxswain Vincent D. Jacques.

Vincent was born on June 10, 1924 and graduated from Millbury High. He lived on Davis Road in West Millbury befoire enlisting in the Navy in August of 1941.

He participated in five major battles before transferring to the USS Frederick Davis which was torpedoed and sunk on April 24, 1945.

Seems to have been a bad luck transfer.

Three photos: 1) Much about Vincent and 2) & 3) About the re-dedication of his square in 2001.

And now it has been another twenty-five years.
