I want to remind you that THIS FRIDAY, APRIL 11TH, 6 PM, MAL will hold its first Quarter Auction at Millsboro Fire Hall. Board members have been working hard to collect almost 100 great prizes, including weekend accommodations at DE beach locations, beautiful art work, gift cards galore and more.
PLEASE plan to support this event by attending and bringing your friends--doors open at 5 p.m.. Quarter Auctions are lots of fun and there will be refreshments, too! All funds raised will support the children's summer camp and other art education programs MAL will host. WE NEED YOU!

A call for photographers to exhibit and compete for cash prizes in the Millsboro Art Leagues's 9th annual Photography Exhibit and Contest.

March Art Show
We invite and encourage participation in our March Art Show and Contest. As with our previous Spring event any of your artistic creations, excluding photography, are eligible for this Contest and Show. Prizes will be awarded at the Reception on Saturday, March 8 from 2 - 4PM. Artwork exhibit in gallery through March.

SCI's Therapeutic Art Program highlighted by MAL - Reception at the Gallery Feb 8 from 2 - 4PM
Select works created by inmates in a therapeutic art class at Sussex Correctional Institution will be on public display thanks to the Millsboro Art League (MAL), which has offered the class a show in the league’s gallery. “This really is a wonderful opportunity,” said program coordinator Nancy Thomas, who started overseeing the group four years ago. “The art league was very enthusiastic about the show, which goes along with their commitment to being community-based and community-focused.”
The class, which has been in place at the Georgetown prison for approximately 10 years, is viewed by most participants as a way to maintain some structure and stability during their period of incarceration. “It keeps me on the right track and it keeps me positive,” stated a particpant, who prefers to paint subjects that are peaceful and calm. “It gives you a little bit of hope.”

We also invite you to our Holiday Reception on Saturday afternoon, December 14, between 2 and 4. Please stop by and get your Holidays off to a good start with some pleasant chitchat with your fellow art league members. Light refreshments will be available.

Announcing the winners of the Millsboro Art League's Fall Show judged by Linda Minkowski Saturday at a reception held from 2-4 at the Gallery at 203 Main Street.

Entries were judged from two categories - Emerging and
Professional artists.

In the emerging artist category;
1st place was awarded to Teresa Fazzalaro
2nd Richard Wertz
Honorable Mention to Keith Steck

Professional winners include:
1st. place to Darla Hilton
2nd Gail Zinar
Honorable Mention to Gail Zinar for her water color titled 'Gallant Approach'

The work of these fine artists and other works will be on display in the
Gallery for the remainder of the month.

The Salvation Army, Developmental Disabilities Program (DDP) is very pleased to announce the Third Annual Art Gallery Showing featuring the artists from their program. The art will be featured for the month of August at the Millsboro Art League (MAL), located at 203 Main Street in Millsboro, DE. A reception will be held on Saturday, August 10, 2013 from 2 to 4PM.

A week of summer art classes will be offered to school age children
at the Millsboro Art League Gallery. Local artists Ron Lightcap,
Tom Keeley, Debra Doucette, Gerilyn Gaskill and Bev Bellows will
be donating their time and expertise to bring a diverse art
experience to the campers.

School age children will explore drawing, painting, crafts,
mosaic art and more. These five days of art classes will be held
on Monday through Friday with a morning class from 10AM to Noon
and an afternoon overflow class from 1pm to 3pm. The classes will
include sketching, painting with acrylics and water colors, ceramics
and art craftworks.

$25 registration fee will be charged per student.
Donations for supplies are welcome!

Joint Art Show & Contest

Millsboro Art League is inviting the members of the Nanticoke River Arts Council and the Milton Arts Guild to participate in this Show along with our Millsboro Art League members. This Show is a cooperative venture designed to facilitate collaboration between our respective members. We invite each participant to submit two (2) entries. There will be no entrance fee to participate in the Show.

As an incentive we will award a $100 best in show prize. We will also offer an “Honorable Mention” ribbon to one piece voted best in Show from each of the participating art groups. Hopefully, the best in show $100 prize piece will be from one of the three (3) Honorable Mentions but only time will tell. You know how fickle judges can be.

The winners will be selected via a peoples choice venue using votes cast by those with entries in the show and by the visitors to our Gallery up to and including the day before the reception (Friday, July 12). The reception will be on Saturday, July 13 from 2 to 4 PM.
