Remembering Dolly Parton, 1946–2026

On October 28, 1977, Dolly Parton took the stage at La Crosse’s Mary E. Sawyer Auditorium. Tickets were just $6 and $7, and the following day, the La Crosse Tribune reported that a sold-out crowd of about 3,000 people had packed the auditorium to see her perform.

Today, we remember the country music legend who brought a little bit of Nashville to La Crosse nearly 50 years ago.
