Frazier Farmstead Museum

Frazier Farmstead Museum Open April through December. Admission by donation. Crossing the Oregon Trail from Texas, William S. The home was built in 1892 and was remodeled in 1896.

Frazier, his wife Rachel, and their family arrived at this site in 1868. Having brought only what their wagons could hold, they built a cabin in which they resided for the next 24 years. Three generations of Fraziers occupied the home site for 115 years. In October of 1984 the Frazier property opened as Frazier Farmstead Museum and was placed on the National Register of Historic Sites in 1986. The

restored home contains a veritable treasure trove of late 1800's living. In 1989, the oldest deeded property in Umatilla County, the McCoy cabin, was moved to the museum site to save it from destruction. Through a generous grant and the labor of many volunteers, the cabin has been restored and features furniture and other items of the era.

The Oregon Heritage Trees Program turns 30 this year. To celebrate the important contribution of trees to Oregon's history, a free brochure and hard copy map can be picked up from our gift shop. Set out on an adventure to travel Oregon and find historical markers and heritage trees! Did you know the Farmstead holds one of these historic trees? Our glorious shagbark hickory stands in the background of the Museum sign. Brought over the Oregon Trail from Texas, it was planted soon after the Fraziers arrived to their homestead in 1868.
